Harper Hospital (Cori Center) Hospital

It took forever for the nurses to attend to me. I would push the button and I'd have to wait a good hour before they came in. They'd forget about my pain meds and I'd have to remind some of them more than once. The doctors and nurses stressed how important it was to walk and take a shower everyday, but would not come and help or forget about you. The food was awful. I was woken up at the very least once every 2 hours. The were only 3 people that were kind and knew what they were doing was a nurse named Pricess and one who's name I don't remember and a PCA named Trish.

I had a wonderful hospital stay. The only thing I have to compain about is, when you push your call button, the person that answers is not very friendly. Thankfully it is not her that comes to your room, it is your nurse. I had some wonderful nurses!!! This hospital was a wonderful place to have this done and I would recommend it to anyone!!

Wow - I'm from Ontario and I can honestly say that this hospital greatly surpasses what I'm used to up in the North. It's a beautiful hospital with great nurses and doctors. The Cori Centers has their own wing for patients having gastric bypass surgeries. Dr. Kole was an absolutely wonderful, kind, professional. His nurses are superb. They are real sweethearts. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I was worried about being so far from home for surgery, but the doctors and staff made me feel safe and secure. The staff is tremendous in the surgical aftercare of patients. They are kind and courteous and right there when you need them. The doctors, besides being excellent surgeons, are informative and always seemed willing to answer any and all of my questions.

Upon arriving we had a hard time parking but once we were inside the security people were nice. They walked us where I needed to go. When I got to pre-op the nurse was not understanding at all. As a matter of fact she basically said the she was against the WLS surgeries. That wasn't helping my nerves. Then the Anesthesiologist and his student came and seen me to put in my epidural. The student missed, just my luck I wasn't even sedated yet. Then I went into an anxiety attack and was wisked away to surgery, scared as hell. Once I was there I remember nothing. When I woke up in pre-op a nurse was repeatedly hitting the back of my head to wake me up. I guess I would stop breathing every time I fell asleep. In part I'm sure due to the anesthesia and my sleep apnea, but she didn't need to yell and hit me! I was then sent to my room. When I got there I had no-one around. I was still loopy and no nurse would talk to me to tell me everything was okay. They had told my family that it would be 3 hours before I went to my room and they could leave for a while, even though it was only 1
hour I had to wait. So when i got to my room I had no one! It sucked! I couldn't even use the TV because I was too weak to grab my phone to call and turn it on. The nurses were scarce to say the least. My epidural was put in wrong and they call for an emergency Dr. because my body went numb from my waist up. It was because the epidural was placed wrong. I did'nt let them re-do it. I used whatever they put in my IV for pain. On the third day my IV just fell out and no one ever replaced it. Needless to say I went home later that day. It was my B-day after all. Overall the hospital is incredibily high tech and I know the Doctor's are top notch. The staff I question! Having a floor to yourself is really nice.

In the recovery room I felt rushed, not once was I asked if I needed anything or was I comfortable. Instructions were shouted at me. They are short staffed and I had difficulty getting help from the personal care techs. They seemed uninterested and some down right lazy. While walking in the hall the nurses don't speak and don't expect a patient care tech to speak either. The good thing is the rooms were new and private. But be prepared to pay for TV and phone priviledges. I was unable to shower and not once was I offered a sponge bath. Good thing my significant other was there. I would have rated this hospital as poor if it weren't for the new private rooms and the cleanliness of the halls and rooms.
