I really can't say how impressed I am with Dr. Prashar. Surgery was on March 1, and physically things are going very well so far. I just saw him for my 6 week checkup and he was very encouraging, supportive, genuine, and quite patient. I do wish that I would have had some more time to ask him about the details of my surgery, and I would like to know why I was told (not by him) that he wouldn't be able to see me before I was discharged because he was very busy. At the time it made sense (plus I was on pain meds :) but in retrospect I really would have liked to talk to him about the surgery during my 3-day stay in the hospital.
I would recommend Dr. Prashar to anyone who is thinking about bariatric surgery.

Dr Prashar was a great help to me when deciding what my options were for weight loss surgery. He explained all of the options and the benefits and risk with each. He always made me feel at ease and free to ask any questions that I had.

Dr. Cantor is an excellent surgeon with Kaiser Permanente (HMO). He is no-nonsense and to the point but willing to answer any question you may have.

He isn't rude, but he is strict and expects you follow his instructions and his pre and post-op procedures and not what you may have heard or read elsewhere.

Dr. Cantor's Kaiser staff is kind and provides assistance as needed.

If you have Kaiser and need a lot of hand holding, coddling and false smiles, he is not the surgeon for you. I've had my share of questions and suggestions for him and he patiently listened then answered them, straight forward and to the point. At times I felt as if I was being whiny... and Dr. Cantor provided me what I needed, but never placated me. Will he smile and laugh with me, sure. But don't look for a soap opera dr here.

Dr McKenna is a wondeful bariatric surgeon! He is compassionate and really does care for his patients. When you are in his office, he will make you feel like you are the only person in the world. His nurse/assistant Sheri is also very highly knowledgeable and compassionate, and will help you in any way she can. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking to have RNY surgery or LapBand surgery!

I knew from the moment I sat through Dr. McKenna's presentation on obesity, types of surgery, pro's and con's, and the whole shabang that he was going to be my surgeon. I absoultely fell in love with him and his staff from that moment forward. They all told it like it is/was going to be. I was super scared the morning of my surgery but the minute I saw Dr. McKenna's smiling face my fears disappeared. Sheri, his right (and sometimes left) hand person in the office has been amazing. She never leaves me hanging even on the simple questions or concerns. Tammy his nurtirenalist (sp) is amazing as well. The first time she showed me what I was going to be able to eat post surgery I about fell out the chair....I couldn't believe it but it has been true and accurate! It has been just over a month now and I am proud and happy to say I am healing wonderfully and feeling better everyday. I am down 23.8 pounds in the first month. If you are looking for a surgeon in Maryland, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Steven McKenna and staff!!

Everyone at The Weight Loss Clinic is very nice and helpful and most importantly, not judgmental. The staff is always on top of things and willing to help you through any questions, concerns, or anything else you need. It feels like you're walking into a family doctor's office when you go there. Dr. Prashar is wonderful, very down-to-earth and has a great sense of humor. The first time I met him I knew instantly that he knew what he was doing and would take great care of me. He was very accommodating at the hospital, making sure I understood everything and spoke to my parents as soon as surgery was over. They were also very impressed with him. I also met Dr. Currie from The Weight Loss Clinic while at the hospital and my experience with him was similar. I have never heard anyone complain about any of the surgeons there. I would HIGHLY recommend The Weight Loss Clinic to anyone considering weight loss surgery, and would recommend Dr. Prashar in a heartbeat! My experience so far has been nothing but wonderful!

My first impression of Dr. McKenna was that he actually cares for his patients and wants them to succeed. Even since my RNY, he is still a big part of my journey, and is there with me every step of the way. His office staff are very helpful and compassionate. Dr. McKenna loves to give hugs and treats you like family. I would rate Dr. McKenna a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best. In my opinion sugical competence and bedside manner equally great.
