Morton Hospital Hospital
Everything is great as far as getting ready for surgery the OR and the ICU, but once you get to regular room you are on your own. I would suggest having family and friends stay with you most of the time, because when you ring the buzzer they ignore you. So you end having to walk out there , the walking is good for you, but hello what if I was dying? Dr. Bodner is worth this regular room aggrivation.
I want to let everyone know that I feel that the staff at Morton Hospital were very caring and right there when I need them. I ony had one problem with a nursing student when I was put on the surgery ward. I asked to get up to go to the bath room and get ready for bed and she just put me in the bath room and left and never returned to help me was the rest of me. When I rang to get help to get back to bed she made me fell like it was a chore for her, well guess what the next night she was not allowed to come back into to our room. Thank god for that. The rest of the staff was very willing to help in any way and always brought me ice chips.
ICU was wonderful. The nurses were great. No complaints whatsoever. They kept my morale high even when I felt horrible. When I went to the surgical floor, well, I cant say anything good about it. Waiting for 2 hours for pain medication is totally uncalled for. Also, it was dirty. Not the clean, sterile hospital setting I am used to. If it wasnt for Dr. Bodner, I would have chosen another hospital.
EVERYTHING WENT GREAT, EXCEPT FOR ONE STUPID COMMENT BY ONE NURSE OR AIDE WHICH WAS UNCALLED FOR. I WAS STILL UNDER THE DRIP SO I COULDNT REMEMBER IN THE AM WHO SHE WAS. I ASKED IF I COULD GET A BOOST UP IN BED AND WHEN THEY CAME IN ONE OF THEM SAID "WE NEED MORE HELP, I'M NOT GONNA HURT MY BACK MOVING HER" WELL BELIEVE ME SHE WASNT THAT SMALL#1 AND#2 ANY ONE WHO MOVES PATIENTS KNOWS THAT WITH PROPER LIFTING TECHNIQUE, TWO 90# GIRLS CAN MOVE A 400# MAN. JUST BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY IN FRONT OF PEOPLE, COMMENTS LIKE THAT STICK...I JUST WISH I COULD HAVE REMEBERED HER FACE IN THE MORNING TO SAY SOMETHING BUT I DIDNT WANT TO ACCUSE THE WRONG PERSON.
The care in ICU was excellent! However, once I was moved to a regular room, my care was not as good. Not enough nurses for the number of patients. Also, they put a senile dieing patient in the bed next to me and I was up all night calling the nurses because she was trying to climb out of bed and could of hurt herself. She ended up dieing. The last 2 days my care of excellent during the days because I had a student nurse assigned to just me, but once she went home for the day, I didn't see a nurse very often or at all unless I called her.
