Northern Virginia Community Hospital Hospital

Many of the electrical outlets did not work which kept monitors in your room going off day and night. If was after a visit with my doctor and my continued complaining did they resolve the problem. Many of the pole legs that hold the IV bags were dysfunctional making it hard to walk with them. Prep material that needed to be sterile were not during my surgery and added 2 addnl hours to my surgery time, nor would the vhs machine work to video tape the surgery. I did not eat the food day 2-3; the jello was horrible. I requested sherbet but was told they did not have; another nurse on another shift did bring me some. The majority of the nursing staff were very kind and helpful depending upon the shift. The morning and late night were especially nice.

Excellent hospital. I was apprehensive about going to NVCH because I'd read that it was small and older. But, from the moment the nurse took me from my husband in the waiting room, until the moment I was discharged, they made me feel so comfortable and at ease. The nurses did not once question whether I needed any pain medicine, in fact, they encouraged me to take it to prevent pain from coming. They had a great sense of humor. I felt totally safe, though, I was only there a total of 35 hours. I walked the halls with a nursing student when my husband couldn't be there and she was also excellent. I could not have asked for a better experience. Note: I did request a private room at registration, which was $87 extra, and worth every single penny of it. My room was quiet and peaceful and I was able to recover. I now feel bad that I put Dr. E's office manager through such angst when I found out my surgery was at NVCH, because I was totally pleased.

I wanted to take a moment to SHOUT from the rooftops how wonderful my stay was at NORTHERN VIRGINIA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL. I was concerned with it being such a small hospital, and everyone seems to choose the larger. It is so clean and pretty there. It is so much more personal. ALL of the staff were WONDERFUL. The nurses were so caring and knowledgeable. I felt like I was in the best hands from the minute I got there, to the day I left. In fact, I wish I could have stayed longer!
There is a special angel there named Deb. She has had the surgery herself, and came to see me right before I went in. I was an emotional mess, scared and crying. She eased my fears, and I will be forever grateful. She looks fabulous, and her smileis contagious. You just know it is going to be allright. Although I was in and out after surgery, I do remember seeing her face again. I know she came to check on me, and I thought that was so sweet.
There were other nurses that morning, two in particular that I would love to thank for their caring. I do not know their names, given the circumstances. I only wish they could know how much their caring meant to me that day. It meant all the difference, and I will never forget it.

It was the worst hospital experience I have ever had. My room mate had similar problems. They kept saying we had a code blue and this is a small hospital, we can't tale care of everyone. They left water and ice on my table after surgery. I was drinking it because eariler I was tald that when you can have it it will be on your table. My room mate heard me choking and SHE got me up tp walk. THEY never did. At one point I buzzed them and said I was having trouble breathing and told my nurse was busy. When someone showed up to check the oxygen in my blood her response to the DR who showed up was "OH MY GOD"
