Providence Alaska Medical Center Hospital

The only issue that I wasn't happy about was my pain after waking from sugery. At first they tried to tell me that I wasn't hitting the button enough but I know from past experience about how long it takes for the machine to reset and wasn't trying to be obsessing about too much. After they said something about that I started to hit it everytime I thought about how much I was hurting. That started to get their attention a little. When I asked them to make sure that it was hooked up correctly they sorta blew me off but I was sedated and that could have been my perception. When I started to get to the panicking point I was getting to be a bit of a problem to deal with. When the nurse told me to wait another 30 minutes and I said "FINE" she looked at me really hard and said "no, it's not fine... if you hurt I'll call the doctor. Do you want me too?" I told her yes and within 10 minutes my pain meds were upped and I was comfortable. By the next afternoon I weaned myself off the pump completely and started taking oral meds as I was getting too much and unable to visit with friends. The nurses were attentive to my needs and while there were times that my calls weren't answered right away I was very satisfied with my care.

I was pleased with most of what happened to me in the hospital but did send comments to the hospital as for three days there were bloody towels in the bathroom of my room. I also had a suppository put into the wrong place. The nurse questioned me and said it wasn't possible but I know where my rectum is. She did insert another correctly after seeing that I was rigth. These were isolated cases and I sent information to the hospital so that it could be corrected.
I would go there again. I was treated with respect. I was allowed to have my spiritualism taken care of and my husband was allowed to stay for two nights because of the increased tempature. He was worried. The doctor said it was normal but because he was worried, he was allowed to stay. I would go back again happily, if I needed a hospital.
