Saint Francis Hospital

I would like to thank a wonderful nurse that finally heard my woes about the hospital bed, On Wed. evening the 19th of November, My nurse (dont remember her name) came in and ask if there was anything that I needed, When I again said that a softer bed would be nice she immediatly came to my rescue, brought in a bed with air pumped into it and since I had not been using the morphine pump since Tues, she removed the I.V.'s and brought me a Pain pill broken into small pieces, Once this was done she turned out all the lights and I slept like a baby until 1am when it was time for vitals, It was great, and I Thank her so much for being there. She made a difference in my world for that one night. Thank you again my angel of mercy. Sue

My only complaint was that the radiology department was completely unprepared to handle obese patients. They practically refused to do a CAT scan due to my weight, even though I was 40 pounds under their maximum weight. My doctor was very proactive in making sure that they did what was requested, however it was a battle. The 9th floor is dedicated to Bariatric patients and they were wonderful - totally prepared to assist obese patients. The Saint Francis ICU nurses were also wonderful and I received excellent care while in ICU. The hospital doctors were very thorough and professional.

The staff was extremely responsive, interested in my care, provided pain meds within five minutes, checked to make sure I was warm enough, kept the "hat" empty without being asked. I have been in 4 hospitals in the last 18 months, and this one was head and shoulders above the others.

The only bad experience I had was in radiology when I went for my UGI the morning after surgery. They left me totally alone on the rock hard table. Laying flat really put tension on my surgical incisions. I felt panic that I would throw up after swallowing the contrast and no one would be there to help me. I felt like I was just another body herded through the department, and that I was insignificant.
