Southern Surgical Hospital Hospital

This hospital was very good to me, as the patient. Everyone was very knowledgable and allowed me to get up and walk around very quickly following the surgery. I had a lot of discomfort fromt the catheter and quickly got the order for it to be removed. My only complaint and it's not really a complaint just an observation. I liked walking around and walked with my wife to the dining room the morning after my surgery. At noon I tried to do the same thing and they asked me to leave and then one of the nurses told my wife it wasn't bery nice to bring food into the room, since I could not eat. It embaressed her, and that made me kind of mad. Overall a very good experience though.

The entire experience was wonderful with the exception of (2) problems. Post-op pain medicine was not admininstred because of nursing staff shift change they forgot. Also, I'm ashamed to say this because I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist but the Respiratory Dept failed to perform their duties properly. I doubt that the staff even realized the therapist are too lazy to give the proper time & performe the ordered therapy as taught!!! Shame Shame on this!!
I would recommend this hospital to others, but I will express my disappointment with the Resp Therapist, because it is very important to maintain the airways & prevent pulmonary complications after these surgeries!!!
