St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center Hospital

Care was through and competent from admissions, short stay, OR, Recovery to the 5th floor. They have started a Bariatric Program and have done an excellent job thus far. They seem to be learning about Bariatric surgery so expect some fumbles. All in all Lincoln is very lucky to have a surgeon ( Dr. Hung) and a facility that makes lap band procedure available to patients in the area. Would recommend St. Elizabeth to anybody considering this procedure.

I would recommend this hospital to others thinking about having the WLS done. I came home pretty much pain free. Didnt even feel like I really had surgery done. Besides I couldnt eat much. I did have the lap procedure done also so they say things get back to normal faster with the Lap. I was in the hospital three days.

Most areas of the hospital were quite good. I was in Critical care for 9 or 10 days and most staff didn't seem to know what to do for cares relating to my surgery. One nurse actually took my water away from me because he said I was drinking it too fast and dumping. Very few of the staff knew how to use the bariatric beds. I can honestly say that there is one nurse and one person in respiratory that should be fired. Both were physically and verbally abusive. My wife stayed up almost the entire night to take care of me as much as she could so that they wouldn't have to come in and then requested staff the next morning for them not to come into my room again. Dietary didn't said they didn't know what to feed me once I could eat because they normally didn't have RNY patients that long. There were several nurses that were amazing and the facilities in general were good. But I think for gastric bypass patients, they need some work.
