St. Elizabeth's Medical Center Hospital
The Center For Weight Control staff are great. They're kind, thorough, and knowledgable. The pre-surgery testing is very intense and involved over a dozen visits to various testing departments. Rather than being a burden, I saw all this testing as thoroughness. One of the testing departments, where I did a stress test, was sort of run like a high school gym with no concerns for privacy. Aside from the stress test environment, my experience has been very positive. The surgeon, Kevin O'Donnell and his co-surgeon Dr Piceax (pronounced PEE-cue) were very competent and informative. There were a few young doctors training at the hospital during my surgical stay and it was a bit annoying having to deal with a crowd during some examinations. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the care I received from Caritas St. Elizabeth Medical Center and I highly recommend it's Center For Weight Control.
Pre-op program staff and surgeon are very very good. Nurses during post-op stay were ill-equipped to handle gastric bypass patients. 3 of the nurses told me personally they felt they needed more training in dealing with "patients like me". None of the nurses knew how to use the special gastric bypass bed and I was given sugar on my tray by the dietary dept. Nurses were very overworked and stressed. I felt they were frustrated with gastric bypass patients and did not know much about the whole procedure.
