Denise A. Johnstone Nurse Practioner (NP) M.S.N., N.P.-B.C.

Denise A. Johnstone, MSN, NP-BC,is the clinical director of the GW Medical Faculty Associates Bariatric Surgery Program, and Senior Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Surgery. Ms. Johnstone received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University, and her Advanced Practice Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Pennsylvania. She is board-certified as an Adult/Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and as a Certified Bariatric Nurse. Prior to joining GW Medical Faculty Associates in 2001, Ms. Johnstone was in private practice in Pennsylvania. Ms. Johnstone's clinical interest and experise are bariatric surgery, surgical oncology and general surgery. She has played a key role in the development of the MFA's Bariatric Surgery Program. In 2008, the program received national certification as a Center of Excellence. Ms. Johnstone is seen as an expert in her field and has presented her work to numerous national and regional clinical conferences.
