I think the jerky setting on mine is high and don't reduce the temp. You will definetely get a feel for it. I love making it and everyone loves it!!!

You don't want the jerky to be too dry cause it will be very difficult to eat. You want it a still a little flexible.

Thanks. I think I might have overdone it this time just a little but I'm eager to try again! I realize it depends on a few things but just curious how long you leave yours in the dehydrator?

Hi Fozzie,

I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you. I have not done turkey or chicken as of yet but I would cook it the same way as beef. I usually do the beef anywhere from 6-12hrs. I realize that's a broad range but there are a lot of factors like, humidity in the house and outside too(it will take longer for the meat to dry out if is humid), thickness of meat, how wet is it when you put the meat on the dehydrator?

In my opinion it takes a lot of monitoring(not constant but maybe every 45 mins.) after 6hrs or so. You want the meat a little flexible still and not to dry because then it gets like cardboard and crumbles which is not enjoyable at all. I learned the hard way!

Good morning.  I really enjoyed the week and cleaned house on carbs from my diet.  I'll keep going like this, but likely will add back my nightly salad and cut back a little on the protein.  I was firing off 110+ protein numbers and I liked being between 100 and 110, so I'm not looking at much carb or calorie change.  I'll weigh tomorrow and see if things pop some.

Regarding baking - My wife bakes, so the house is always full of stuff.  I've taken a bite or two since surgery (during the holidays) but stay away from her stuff regularly.  I do find it funny that the freezer she stores these items is in my basement gym (I'd say "our" gym, but my wife hasn't stepped on a piece of equipment since I built the thing), so I could really go to town.  ;) I had to move cake boxes off my treadmill Sunday when I finally got on the thing for the first time in 3 years.

B - Starbucks egg white pucks.  This Starbucks I went to made them great and gave me hot sauce vs. the first place I got them.

S - greek light and fit yogurt

L - 3.5 ounces low sodium cold cuts and cheese stick

S - Premier protein shake

D - Steak

Edit - forget to put my egg drop soup for dinner.  That turned out to be a great find.  Just broth and eggs with a little hot sauce - yummo (in honor of Rachel Ray who's recipe it is)

I haven't tried the egg white egg bites yet at Starbucks, are they good? I like the bacon gouda ones. The girl at Starbucks told me to ask to have them cooked on a '2' if I want them crispier on top and a more normal texture. Normally they cook them on a '1' and are very soft.

They are good, but a bit soft.  I thought about asking for double bake. I'll do that next time.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for being so inspiring Daisy! Truly makes us feel taken care of and makes this process so much easier. This weekend will not feel like a weekend because I'm at school all day Saturday and Sunday for rehearsals and my husband has the flu officially. He never got his shot but I did thank goodness.

QOTD: I didn't change my eating much but it made me realize that I was actually probably eating too many veggies. I can pack in more protein when I leave the veggies alone and it helped with my energy a great deal. So I think I'll be staying on CAMAW for a while with a very occasional veggie. Next time I'll suck it up and do AMAW! My weight went from 188.7 to 186.3 which is 2.4 lbs in 4 days so I'm happy the scale moved!! That puts me at less than 40lbs to goal but now I'm re-thinking that goal. I'm just about 4 mos. out and the Dr. never gave me a goal, it's just that I wanted to hit 100 lbs lost and I didn't think I could go lower than 150. I'm 5'3" so I really should be down around 130 so I think I'll just keep loosing as long as my body will cause I'm happy with how I'm eating. Guess I've realized all of this during CAMAW! Thanks everyone!

B: Decaf, protein hot chocolate, babybel

D: 3 oz chicken thigh with salsa and cheese (don't want these to go bad)
