 Hi Y'all

I would like to know what is the maximun amount of grams of protein by day than we can take.

I'm 16 day out and still on liquid diet because of a hernia repaired, I habe been hitting very easily the 80 and even 90 grams.  I wondre if that could bring a difficulty of any kind.

Thanks

You should be fine with that.  Just make sure to get plenty of liquids.  High protein diets can increase the risk of kidney stones - so staying hydrated is very important.

I think that is great. I have not heard people going over 120 and maybe higher if they are athletes or big men. I am 13 days out and also had a hernia (hiatal, right?) repaired and I am on soft foods already and if well tolerated will graduate to solids towards the end of next week.

A good rule of thumb is not to exceed 1g of protein per lb of lean body mass.

 Thanks for the answerds.

Wildcat: how do you calculate that?  I have no lean body mass LOL.  Seriously I don't know how to do that.

My scale tells me my body fat % - currently is says 47.4%, so my lean mass would be 1 - 47.4 or 52.6%.  My weight is 238 lbs with lean mass of 238 x 52.6 = 125 lbs.  My body would be fine processing 125g of protein.

Did that make sense?  There be better formulas, etc out there...

Ive been eating over 100 g of protein a day for the last year, and in recent months, more in the range of 130-140g/day. Im still alive and kicking.. I drink 120oz of water to go with it, and no issues with kidney stones.

I eat around 100-120 grams of protein each day, but am okayed to go up to 150 grams by my doc as long as I drink plenty of water.
