Biggest Loser "distasteful" comment

Did anybody else watch the Biggest Loser finale and catch the doctor's offensive comment to one of the contestants praising him for not resorting to one of those "distasteful weight loss surgeries"? I started to argue with the TV that I have to stick to my diet and exercise, but my mom interrupted to says if he'd had the surgery, they'd have no show.

I cringed when he said that. What he failed to mention is how many of the contestants gain all their weight back. Only a few are actually successful. I read an article today about obesity and resting rates.

I watched it. Flipped him off. I have always loved watching this show, because I find it inspiring to see the transformation people go through. But, after all of the press lately about it and then that comment from him, I'm starting to question whether I like it as much. Of all people, he should know better than to judge anyone's method for trying to save their lives!
I have never cared for that show. I felt they treated the contestants like trash. Talked to them like they were idiots and shamed them into pushing themselves too far. And putting out a false sense of what healthy weight loss should be. Nobody living a normal life can lose 25 pounds in one week. They are all isolated from family and friends and do nothing but eat, breath live weight loss regimen, exercising many hours every day and having all their meals professionally prepared for them. Come one... How realistic is that. HATE that show!
