Has anyone taken codeine cough syrup after bypass surgery? I have a really bad cough and the dr. prescribed it even after I told him I'd had the surgery. Let me know if you have/have not & if you know if it's ok or not.

Thanks!

As long as it's not mixed with NSAIDs it should be okay.

My MD sent me home after surgery on Tylenol #3 which is Tylenol with Codeine.

Thanks! I didn't think about having codeine in my pain med, but you are right. My stomach just started hurting really bad last night, so that's why I posted my post.

Thanks for your help!

Codeine makes some peoples'---even non-ops---stomachs hurt. It just KILLS my mom, and she's never had any sort of stomach surgery.

I'd eat something first, but other than that, you should be fine.
