I think you should be in the challenge! Zumba is awesome!

I think you should go for it...Do it.....Are they jealous of you?  They should be happy for you that you are wanting to exercise and get in better shape.

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only TRUE FRIENDS will leave footprints in your heart...And may that friendship have such a ONENESS that when one weeps the other will taste salt...Friends are like balloons ; once you let them go you can't get them back....So I'm going to tie you to my heart so I never lose you.

I agree with the others. Just to clarify though, are you saying they don't want you in the challenge because you've had weight loss surgery and they think you'll have the upper hand or am I just misunderstanding your post?

If the challenge is for the person who loses the most weight - they you definetly have the advantage. Malabsorption, and less of an appetite. And if only one person can get the free pass... then.. well you definetly have an upper hand.  I can see their point.

I'm with Hala, if this is a weight loss challenge, then you could eat bon bons and stand at the back of the class and you will probably lose more weight than them!!!

I think you should take the challenge, work to lose as much as possible, then graciously give the prize to the oerson who loses the most weight without having surgery.  Anything less would be in very poor taste.

I got the same kind of crap from my friends at Curves for the same thing.  I have to work just as hard as any of them to keep the weight off let alone get anymore off.

I love my Zumba class I think you should go for it.  You won't loose weight no matter what you do.  WLS just doesn't work that way.

Good Luck

Um, go for it! WLS is a tool not a guarentee of weight loss. If you're willing to put int he excersice then go for it. Are you breaking any "rules" of the challenge? If not then I say do what you want.
