So here is the survey

How long did you have to wait from the time that you started the process of WLS till you had the surgery.

I'd say I started the process with my first appointment with my surgeon.  That's the first thing I did, was schedule an appointment with a surgeon.  And I had surgery about four months later.

I have a 6 month wait. I have blue cross/blue shield. So this winter God providing I will have my surgery. The six month wait has been good though..

Because i have met with the nutrishinist  and had a few appts. with the psyche person. So there you go. All part of the process. I am actually getting really excited and looking forward to my surgery. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Less than 3 weeks from Googling weight loss surgery to being in the OR.   That was 10 years ago though - not quite as popular as it is now!

I started the process in March, and am scheduled for RNY on Monday (9/8). My insurance required 3 months supervised weight loss, an extra month for approval from the insurance company, then a month for thr surgeon appt, and 3 weeks to schedule surgery.

I started at a seminar back in April. I am working on my 5th month of  physician documented weight loss and have one more to go.

I have finished everything else except for the nutrition class which is also is needed per insurance.

My hope is to have approval by mid  November.

I went to an introduction seminar in November. And call the office after the holidays were over and I had my first appointment on January 20th, 2014 and i had to wait 3 months for insurance and i was on the operating table on May 20th, 2012. So it was 4 months from my first class until the day of my surgery. My only regret was not setting up an appointment right after the seminar so i would of had the surgery before. How much time are you looking at until your surgery?

I went for an information meeting in March, had first appointment at the end of March, was cleared two weeks later with approval, but had to wait until June because I am a teacher and had already taken 3 weeks off for a different surgery in February. My insurance did not require any supervised weight loss programs (but I had already done 7 years of weigh****chers before that). I am a little bit of a different case because of a rare brain disease and this being something my neurosurgeon wanted. It all depends on your insurance. My husband's insurance requires 6 months of supervised weight loss program before approval.

One year exactly, but could have been shorter if I'd hustled.
