Started in Feb 2014 with my first group meeting and had surgery Aug 2014. It could have been WAY shorter but I was dragging my feet in the middle. My nerves got the best of me! My insurance only require that I have a BMI of 35 with 2 co-morbidities OR 40 with none. My doctor's office required meetings with the surgeon, nutritionist visit, psych exam and support group meetings.

Mine was about 6 months.  Mainly because my clinic is so busy and I couldn't get in with a nutritionist there sooner.  It was ok though since I had to do a 6 month DR supervised diet.  Initially I thought it was ridiculous to wait so long, but it's a good thing. It gives you time to really think about what you are signing up for and time to reflect on what got you in your current situation.  Embrace the journey and roll with it.

Went to a seminar end of April, had first Dr. Appt. May 6th. Surgery July 23rd... Lots of appointments in between. My insurance required 6 months of weights, Luckily I had been to the Doctor earlier in the year and had been in the same hospital for a routine colonoscopy, so they were able to pull that weight too. So they were able to put together weights jan-june. Once they put it into insurance heard in 7 to 10 days.
