Week 1 Post Op... I think Im having Hunger Pains?!?!

So, I lost 16 pounds today and I'm looking forward to week 2. Is it normal to have hunger pains. I know about the mental hunger but it seems like my stomach is yearning for food. When I drink something it goes away. Has anyone else has this issue or and I making this up?

What surgery did you have?

I had the VSG and I know that stomach acid can often mimic hunger.  Are you taking a PPI such as nexium or prilosec?

I had VSG as well. Im having problems taking Prilosec, can swallow it. How far out are you?

I used liquid Prilosec for the first few weeks and then switched to Nexium which is a little teeny pill. Now I don't take a PPI.  I'm 8 months out.

I don't get hungry most of the time. Just once in a blue moon.

I'd ask your surgeon about the PPI.

Ooh Yea!

I'm having all sorts of crazy paings and weird feelings in my head as well as my tummy.

I try not to listen to them cause my stomach is a lying liar  that lies. Lol

Sippy sippy, walky walky, and daily improvement is what keeps it real for me.

Even with all the bumps, this journey is GRRREAT! I haven't even stepped on a scale since the 28th,

But I'm totally feeling the entire experience. Very excited.

Hope that helps.

Good luck.

Remember, the ones who TOLD you you won't feel hunger are ASSUMING that...they have not had surgery themselves. The fact that they remove MOST of the hunger hormone does NOT mean they remove ALL of it.

I had the DS (sleeve stomach) and I was hungry from the get-go once I got over the, OMG, it hurts.

Everyone is telling I'm not hungry and I know that I'm hungry. It is not mental. I know im hungry, im fat! I know stomach hungry. Its not as bad like it was before the surgery but it's real.
