Even though the Dr office had me penciled my surgery date in for the 30th, we still hadn't gotten the official approval from my insurance company until today. So it is finally Official. I AM 100% having the RNY on the 30th. I am so excited and scared all at the same time.

Any surgery worries me, but somehow, this seems different. On one hand, it is an elective procedure, but on the other hand, it is mandatory if I want to live a full happy healthy life, from here on out.

What a way to start a new year. Not sure that in the hospital watching the Rose Bowl was on anyone's top ten list for how to spend a new years day, but it is definitely on mine! Keep me in your prayers!

Full liquid diet started today. I have been doing pretty good for the last week though. Only had a couple bites of canned tuna one night and some canned chicken on another night.

Is peanut butter considered a liquid? If not, that was a cheat too. I had one tablespoon on another night.

Congratulations!  It'll be here before you know it.  :)

PB is totally not a liquid :P  The pre-op diet is really important for your health and safety during surgery.  You -can- be vigilant.  Focus on why you're doing this and stick to the plan.

My plan actually officially starts today, I took it upon myself to throw the extra week on there to try and get used to eating this way. Being diabetic I'm having trouble getting the spacing right, so I don't get dizzy and nauseous. I feel really crappy when my sugars drop. I'm thinking about stopping the metformin before surgery because of this. I have an appointment Thursday with my PCP. I'll be asking if I can do that then. Hopefully my blood work from today will tell him it is ok, plus I'll bring my meter and show him my test log. That should help too! Even if he drops me from 1000 twice a day to 500 twice a day, I'm sure that will help.

It will come. I'm just happy I can have my surgery before the end of the year since my deductible had already been met. Maybe that's why they approved me so easily. They are tired of paying ER and hospital bills. I've been in the hospital 12 times in the last 18 months or so.

Awesome!  The pre-op diet was the hardest part of the whole procedure.  You can do it!
