If you are not eating solid foods 6 months after your surgery, you need to see your surgeon ASAP.  Something is not right and your surgeon and you need to find out what. Please keep us posted on what is going on.

I am surprised you left it so long. Yes, if you can't eat solid foods, something is wrong. Make an appointment with your doctor asap.

note, I am not bypassed so this is only opinion, not knowledge.

Have you been going to your regular post-op appointments?   Does your doctor know you haven't been eating solid foods in the last 6 months?  I'm really surprised that it's been allowed to go on this long.

Please call your doctor today!

As the others have already said, I am very surprised that you and your surgeon have allowed this to go on for 6 months.  This is something that should have resolved within the first couple of months.

How are you defining "solid" food (does that include soft foods such as refried beans or cottage cheese)? What kinds of foods have you been trying, and what happens when you eat soft or solid foods?

What you are experiencing is not at all normal and you need to see the doctor again PDQ (or maybe see a different doctor if your current one is aware of this and has not expressed any concern or done any testing to get to the bottom of it). The weight you are already at is barely a "normal" BMI and you still have a number of months of caloric malabsorption ahead.

Also... and I don't say this to offend you, but just to offer it as a possibility... a small percentage of people who have WLS develop a psychological aversion to food (not unlink thesis with anorexia) and this sometimes manifests as them making themselves physically sick when they eat.  If there is no medical reason for you to not be able to tolerate normal foods at six months out, seeing a Psychologist or Counselor who has experience working with eating disorders is probably a good idea.

As the others have said, see your doctor right away.  Have you been checked for a stricture?  Those can be dealt with and things will get better quickly.

thank you everyone for your responses... my surgery was don't out of state so a lot of my follow ups have been over the phone, I have continued to tell them I'm still on basically a liquid diet... soup, water, protein shakes, yogurt...   they keep telling me as long as I am getting enough protein in each day not to worry?!  I'm getting sick on being blown off and I'm really worried now as I'm starting to be told a lot that I just look very sick! And I need to gain weight!    I've tried eating solid foods like beans and different chicken and lean meat and seafood... 2 bites and I feel it's stuck in my chest and I start throwing it all up...I'm freezing all the time, I'm sleeping all the time, I have no energy, I just feel something is very, very wrong and not even sure what it could be to even tell the doctor I want him to check "This!" Idk. ..
