I'm happy the waiting part is done

I have waited for the day since October to say that I have been approved, and that day is finally here. I'm so excited for this surgery and can't wait to start my new life.

Can those of you who had WLS offer any advice for me? What should I do to prepare in these days preceding surgery?

Congrats!!

If you are not very mobile - improve your mobility - just walking.  The healthier you go into surgery, the healthier you come out.  Get some magazines to read in the hosp - stuff that you can throw away.

I am pretty newly post-op, so I'm still in the early learning stages...

The thing that I wish I would have done, pre-surgery, is taken more time to lose weight, and not have obsessed over the 'food funerals' I felt I needed... That last mexican meal, that last bowl of mac and cheese, that last pizza...

What I never wrapped my head around was that all the weight I lost pre-op was going to stay off this time! Unlike all the failed attempts of past years...

Get into the game now... drop the carbs, walk, exercise as much as you can... lose a few pounds now. It makes the pre-op diet easier, and it makes post-op recovery better... AND, when you're on the other side, you're already on your way to being healthier!

Pammieanne, I have to laugh because I have thought about doing a final food funeral. My six-month diet was basically my thinking of all the stuff I won't be able to eat post-surgery, but I don't think I'll miss that stuff that much. Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels, right?

I am going to try to increase my activity so that it isn't such a big adjustment post-op. I really slacked in the activity department during my six-month diet. I'm looking forward to walking again, and it will be easier when I lose some weight.
