For those who like to eat at Subway...

I was in a bind this morning; didn't grab a protein shake and didn't pack anything to eat. So instead of stopping at fast food, I stopped at Subway, remembering something I saw posted on Facebook not too long ago.

Instead of ordering a sandwich on bread, I asked for their egg white patty (which folds up nicely like a pita.) On it, I had them put 4 slices of turkey, 2 triangles of cheese. I then had them add my veggie toppings and a little squirt of honey mustard. It was great!

Mine was 225 calories and 23 grams of protein.

Much better than running to McDonald's and a 600+ calorie breakfast (which I would be able to fully eat now at 4-years post-op.)

Just a little tip for those who may be in a bind. :)

Is the egg white patty sold as a replacement for the bread or is it something that would normally be inside a sandwich. Asking so I know what to look for if and when.

Thanks for the tip!!!

It is actually something that would typically be sold inside of a sandwich. Just tell them you want no bread, just an egg white patty with the toppings inside. They're happy to oblige. :)

How i found out about it: I was getting the sammwich and tossing the bread- so when the girl asked me what kind of bread I wanted I said, " makes no difference, I will toss the bread anyway" she suggested this alternative. I like it for so many reasons but, one of which is that I am not wasting food- something I struggle with when eating out. I feel like so much food is wasted no matter how I try to order things for my specific needs.

I am still learning!

It's on the breakfast menu, which they do all day. They have sandwiches that are egg + lunchmeat + whatever other toppings you want.

I do what my wife lovingly calls the "naked morning mac". It is a mm without the muffin so it is 2 pieces of sausage, an egg and a piece of cheese.

This is from mc'd's? When you order, what do you ask for?

Thanks!

Yeppers! I order a morning mac without the muffin. It usually comes in a plastic container. I just eat it with a fork or caveman it with a napkin handy.
