Hey there. It varies from person to person. The typical plan looks something like this: less than 900 calories during the weight loss period, at least 65 grams of protein, less than 30ish grams of carbs, 64oz of water, vitamins, regular exercise. The surgery comes along with some metabolic advantages and offers restriction that makes the small meals more tolerable. I would recommend you seek out medical supervision if you're going to drop your calories that low as malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies can be quite dangerous and we should all get blood work done regularly.

1/4-1/2 cup per meal. This is not going to fill up your current stomach if you have not had surgery. That is why the pist op diet without surgery is pointless.

You are going to be insanely hungry.

At 6-8 weeks, many plans are still limited to either puréed foods or soft foods because healing is still underway. You might be better off to meet with a nuitritioniat/dietician to set up a go forward healthy diet plan for your needs; I don't think the 3 oz of food I'm eating 3x a day would have been enough pre surgery so think you will be very hungry and possibly malnourished if you go this route.

To my friends who haven't had surgery but want to talk weight loss -the 2 take aways That I think will help everyone are-

Don't drink with meals or for a half hour after. Fluids just push food out of your stomach and make room for more food, no matter who you are. Part of feeling full is triggered by the expansion of the stomach in the presence of food. You can drink up until you eat.

My surgeon's mantra was- Protein first, then veggies and then IF you have any room fruit then (starchy) carbs. He never said no carbs, just put them at the end of the list.

My plan is high protein, low carb, moderate fat. Three meals a day, no snacks. Lots of no calorie liquids, but not during meals or after I eat for the first 30 minutes.

Meals are 4-6 ounces.

Good luck!
