Sunday Workouts!!!

I am not sure if I am doing anything today or not but my inbox has been a bit light.  Figured that starting this would help fill it.  ;)

Yesterday I ran a 3 mile trail race in 23:46 and finished 5th in my age group.  Last year I ran 20 seconds slower and finished third while taking home some hardware (a 2' alberta spruce).  It just goes to show that it's all about who shows up.  It was a perfect day for it - 40's at the start and sunny.

What are you up to today?
Scott

Great pace for that trail run.  I ran 6.2 miles this morning. Running back to backs is not great on the hip, but I pushed through it. Looking forward to a long bike ride this afternoon (if it doesn't rain) with my new cycling shoes.

i agree, that is an awesome pace on a trail! way to podium! (oops, just reread it, you podiumed last year, sorry bout that)...

i had a fun race this morning. indoor tri @ the gym (Lifetime Fitness). it was kinda of a reverse tri for distance not time, i.e., 10 minutes swimming, 10 min transition, 30 min on a spin bike, 5 min transition, 20 min on the treadmill. no idea how i placed, they had to run us in groups, so i'm waiting for the posting. but it was a good training "race". my distances were 21 laps (525 meters), i was 2 feet from the wall but they didn't give me 22 laps :), not sure on the bike, and 2.73 miles on the TM.

i stuck around at the gym and did a weights session, 50 minutes of chest/tri.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

was supposed to run a really crazy 15k local race today, had been looking forward to it, but I woke up feeling awful, and my legs were just achey.. my whole body just screamed at me not to do anything today, so I listened.  I had a pretty high volume week last week, including a half marathon last Sat, so I am gonna just take an easy week and ramp back up on weeks 4 and 3 before beginning the tapering down for the HIM.  Next weekend I need to get in a 50 mile ride with a run after for sure, so am gonna rest for that.

Didn't get registered for the indoor Tri because I thought I had to do cub scouts today which was canceled for spring break at the last minute.

Ran 4.5 in the hot humid heat.

Not a great run but I am proud of any run I do. It was a spur of the moment thing which showed me how important it is to fuel correctly. Since I stay minimal carbs on the weekends I found it difficult around mile 2.5.

I didn't run, I just walked.  But I did 11 miles for my long walk today.  I'm training to do the Indy Mini in May.  Any suggestions on how to walk at a faster pace?  I'm afraid I won't be able to maintain the 18 minute mile at that long of a distance!  I was walking with a friend today and we barely maintained the 18 minute mile.  I don't want to be one of the slow walkers that gets picked up by the bus!!  It's my  first mini marathon.  Thanks.
