OT - Saw my plastic surgeon yesterday

I don't know what it's all called, but basically, we'll be doing the lower body front and back, and he'll be making a long incision down my stomach so he can pull the sides in better.  This is also so the hernia, which has gotten bigger, can be taken care of both by my surgeon, and then my PS will add more stitches over it in pulling the muscles together or something like that so it will be really fixed.  And I'm going to do my inner thighs, but that might have to be a week later depending on how long the anethesiologist is willing to keep me under.  He said it's about a 7 hour surgery, but the hernia repair could add 2 hours.  I will definitely be off for 8 weeks with walking on flat only, but he might let me go back to weight lifting after 6 weeks.  He said I'll never be svelt because of my bone structure and I'll never completely get rid of the fat, but I've done a good job getting rid of most of it and building up a lot of muscle.

Now it's only a matter of when.  I have my half in July, and the San Jose Rock and Roll is Oct. 2nd.  But I'll see my surgeon next month to see if the hernia can wait that long.  Definitely not before the half in July, and I would prefer it after my kids goes back to school.  I'm only doing the plastics since I have to go in for the hernia anyway, but I'm sort of getting excited about it.  I've never had a flat stomach before.  Don't know what it will be like.  LOL

that's so exciting!
Sorry that this is the result of needing a hernia repair, but why not take advantage of the down time and lose all the skin?!

I'm slightly jealous!

Exciting stuff! I had a chest reconstruction, extended tummy tuck, hernia repair, and pubic lift last June and was soooooooo liberating. I still need to get the tremendous amount of skin off my flanks, booty, and legs, but that will probably be later this year. Very exciting stuff!

I remember you going through all this.  How was recovery?  What's it like to have a flat stomach?  I've never not had a tummy, and I'm trying to envision it flat, but that's something I find really hard to picture in myself.  Did it take you long to get use to it?

It's been awesome! It is so nice to be able to run without a ton of compression up top. My core is still pretty numb from all of it, but I am way happy. The scars are big, but well worth the tradeoff.

You are making lemonade out of lemons....I like the idea of getting a problem fixed, and while you are under the hood, add some "bling".

Congrats to you and wishing you a speedy recovery!!
