Everytime after i eat i hiccup! No matter how slow i eat i hiccup. I talked to my nutritionist and surgeon about it and was told that it is normal and happens to some people. They said that because when anyone eats they swallow air so because our pouch is so small the air swallowed needs to go somewhere so i end up hiccuping! It is so embarassing and loud!

On a positive note, as of today i have offically lost 60 pounds! :D

WTG on the weight loss, I'm so happy for you. Just think for ever hiccup you lose a pound lol Just a thought

Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

Hiccups and runny noses can also be a sign for some of being full.

As well, my guts made so many weird noises that I thought an alien living there for quite some time lol

Hey dawn thanks for your input. I think you may be right about it being a sign im full. Usually after i feel full i stop eating and i hiccup. So that may be related.

It has nothing to do with ingested air, it's a spontaneous muscle contraction related to the vagus nerve which gets stimulated when you eat. It's likely a reptilian hang-over from our earlier evolutionary development which is neat. It doesn't have any known purpose in adult humans. It's caused by vagus nerve pressure or slight damage to the nerve from the surgery and it should stop with time. It's often a signal that you've eaten enough/too much.

It happened to me as well, while I was in the hospital.  For the first two days after surgery I spent nearly the enitre two days hiccuping.  It was really painful and nothing I did made it go away.

I hiccup when I am full. That is my full signal. Some people get a runny nose. Once I hiccup I do not take another bite. That`s it I am done.
