Hello Everyone...
I'm fairly new to this site, And I am in the process of having Gastric Surgery.. I find myself nervous and happy at the same time... I cannot wait to wake up and not be in pain to start my day, to be able to play and run around with my kids and not feel like im gonna barf or pass out....
My referal was February 3 2012, Orientation  May 14th 2012, Meet the Surgeon May 23 2012, and I just had my Gastrci Class June 12 2012, my next appt is July 17th, and Its a big one, I meet the RN, the Dietician and the Socail Worker, as well as I am meeting with a medical internist, not really sure why but my suregoen refered me to him... my surgeon is Dr.Huynh, who was really nice and thrual when I met him...If anyone could give me some input on what goes on with the Medical Internist??? That would be cool... and anything else would be sweet :) Look forward to meeting some new ppl, possibly making new friends and taking the journey of a life time :)

I didn't meet the internist until i was in the hospital after my RNY.  What they do is go over medications, blood work etc.  I now see mine to monitor my type 2 diabetes and blood pressure.  Since the surgery I have not had to take any diabetes meds and my blood pressure meds were cut in half.  Don't fear the Internist!!!  They are there just as another check before and possibly after the surgery!  Good luck and welcome to the forum!!!

Your internist will be Dr Glazier. You meet with him he does an ECG, talks about any potential sleep apnea and you have a full family history discussion. He is a lovely man.
Also welcome to the forums.
