Finding myself lurking again, before and after pic to break the habbit
As I battle the desire to hibernate, I still find myself visiting this board a few times a day, but not posting. I've fallen back into my shell of lurking but not saying anything. As I approach my 9 month surgi-versary I am thrilled with my new lifestyle. I can run 10km (did so yesterday when it was a balmy -5C) and I'm starting to train for my first half marathon.
I'm posting a before and in progress picture. I am no longer morbidly obese, just overweight. The weight is coming off slowly now, 10 lb loss in the last 3 months, but it is still coming off. I hope to get into a normal weight range by my surgi-versary, but it may not happen.
276lbs on the left, 173 lbs on the right. It was just like other people mentioned, it is very hard to find full body shots of myself before the surgery. I was always hiding.

Congratulations on your success.
Thank you
Wow! you look amazing! :) I am not much of a runner, but I see lots of people who take it up after their surgery...I think there is a pattern forming??? lol.

Could be a pattern. I used to look at all the runners, looking fit and free and wish I could be one of them. With 100 pounds less of me to haul around, it was easier-not easy- but easier. I used the couch 2 5k podcasts to get started. They were free when I downloaded them back in the day in anticipation. Haven't been able to find them on the website lately when people wanted them, only links to an app that costs money.
I had started the couch 2 5k before the surgery. I waited to run again until about a month out, then started on the couch to 5 k where I left off, at around 250 lbs. It's a nice gradual progression in running. The first week is 5 minute warm up walk, 60 second run, 90 second walk, repeat a few times, then another 5 minute walk to cool down.
I found a link for free podcasts of the couch 2 5k. You can choose between pop or rock and roll. http://runningintoshape.com/5k-training-downloads/
It's not easy, especially in the beginning, but it does get easier every time.
Thanks, I feel amazing
