Hi, everyone. My surgery was yesterday and everything went well. My pain hasn't been too bad, but I haven't been able to pee since surgery. They've catheterized me twice and they say they won't let me out until I can pee on my own. Any advice on making myself pee?

The only advice I can give is to drink when you can, and maybe take your phone with you when you try to go to the bathroom and just sit relax and read your emails, texts, play Boggle. Anything to make you relax and it should happen. Took me a while in hospital but it did happen eventually when i relaxed.

If the tap is the kind you can leave running (some shut off automatically) - let it run while you are on the thrown. Sound of running water may encourage the urge!

Pours warm water over your genitals it will work. Also if they are giving you narcotics such as Percocet or tyenol. 3 this is a cause or urinary rentention
