Skin Pain on leg after Surgery?

Hey all,

I`m having like a burning nerve like pain on the side of my upper right thigh/hip area, it feels like it's on my skin, not inside. It`s not constant and usually happens at night when I`m laying down and feels like I`ve been laying on it too long (even though I may not have been laying on it at all). It`s really hard to describe. It feels like it spreads across my leg with my nerves... I`ve looked at the symptoms of blood clots, and have none of them other than pain obviously. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks for any help!

Hey EmAlways!

Sorry to hear about this discomfort that you are experiencing. I have not gone through this myself, but I would recommend keeping an eye on it. First course of action when there is any concern post-op, is to consult the doctor. You don't want to take any chances by "self-diagnosing".

Good luck.

Cheers,

Skotti

Sounds like nerve pain.Could be sciatic pain. Try massaging area, try heat/cold which every relieves. No more than 15 min at a time. Tylenol. If doesn't get better or gets worse always see your doctor.

I had the same thing and my surgeon said he believes it was caused by the way my leg was positioned on the table during surgery.  I suffered for months with it and then one day tried capsaicin cream.  It did have a burning sensation, but the pain ended after using it for two days.

YES!  I had surgery on August 24th, and it started several days later after I was home.  Mostly at night when lying down, so it was positional. It got better and disappeared after about a week.  I have never heard of anyone else having this until reading your post.

Yeah, mine subsided after a couple weeks. Once in a while it`ll come back, but only for a couple seconds then its gone again. Weird.
