Hi guys! First post, I'm 31 and sitting at 300+ lbs. I've been here for around 8 years now, and am in the process of getting my RNY approved. I'm excited. I've had various success with weight loss over the years, but haven't been able to get out of the obese BMI. I'm not waiting for a stroke or a heart attack. It's a preemptive strike on my fatness! Been reading the boards now and they've been valuable to feeling good about my choice. Tomorrow is my psych appointment, then hopefully approval in a week or two after.

Good luck to you.  I started my process on Oct 20.  I was approved on Dec 7.  I was pending for about a month.  But, once my physician sent in my medical records it was approved immediately.  My surgery was 12/16.  I'm excited for you.  I hope your process goes quickly for you.

Good luck, my insurance required seeing the doc once a month for 6 months.  You are making a good decision, best thing I ever did.

Congrats on your decision for surgery!  I have to say, I had my surgery almost a year ago (1/24/11) and it was the BEST decision of my life!  A year later I am ringing in the new year 100 lbs. lighter.  You are on the path to feeling great and having more energy than you ever thought possible!  I never realized how much my ankles and back hurt until the pounds were gone.

Best of luck with your approval! :)

I had almost as much as you to lose.  I started at a little less and wanted to go to 180.  I got there in 10 months and have gone beyond that now that I'm at a year.

So...a year from now, you could be a new person!!  So excited for you!!

It's funny how after reading about the surgery and in the forums and listening to others successes, 100 lbs lost doesn't seem intimidating at all.
So Blessed!
