I am only 3 months post op, so when i received a letter today sayong that my surgeon is retiring 2/2/12 i was floored!!!!!!!  I need a dr. that is exerienced in RNY to follow my progress.  I live in Albany Ga  and to the best of my knowledge there is not a surgeon here that has RNy experience. If any one has a dr. that they would reccomend I would greatly appreciate it.  I am already traveling about 200 miles to get to my current surgeon so travel is not out of the question for good medical care.  Thanks in advance for any help,
Jeannie

If you're not having complications, your PCP could probably order your labs and stuff for you.  But is your current surgeon referring patients to someone else?  When my surgery left his practice, he send out a letter with names of other doctors he recommended.

Kelly, How did your Christmas visit go?  Do you go with your partner or to your sisters? Which ever
I hope you had a good time.
Wrinkled was not one of the things I wanted to be when I got older.

I had dr Nye too and received the letter yesterday, and was floored also I am seven wks out,I see him next week and as far as I know as long as you have no complications your PCP can provide any follow up care you need.

Unless you need surgery, you really have no need for a surgeon!   Your PCP should be more than capable of meeting your needs in the future!

I only had one follow up appt with my surgeon and was switched to a nurse practioner at the practice for remainder of follow up. and I love her! My surgeon was great for pre-op and surgery, but my NP is much better for post-op care.

Find a good PCP that has experience with bariatric/WLS patients.

Thanks yall! I will ask my pcp if she is willing to follow me and keep up all my labs. I have not had any complications so it should be no problem.
