When did your surgeon start monitoring your vitamin levels?

Just curious when your surgeon started monitoring your vitamin levels post-surgery.

My first full vitamin check was at 1 year.

Then every 6 months thereafter (he checks them at my annual surgery follow up, and I have the same thing done by my GYN 6 months later)

When you get them done, make them send you a copy.  PoetKelly here on OH is a great resource for reading labs and helping you know what to take.

The reason I say this is because my doctor called and said "everything is fine, in the normal range".  However, when I compared to previous labs it was clear my D had declined quite a bit over the past year, it was now in the lowest end of "normal".  Well, everyone here will tell you how hard it is to fix a deficiency, so I got right on it and increased my D (with dry D3).  I'll have labs again in May to see if it has improved.

I'm developing a spreadsheet that will show historical levels so I have it all at a glance.

I have a spreadsheet, if you'd like a copy.

Never!  I have always got my PCP to order them and I keep a check on them.  I adjust all my supplements when needed and If I need help with my auto immune problems (anaemia related) I go see my haemotologist,  no point paying him a co-pay every 3 months for nothing!

I have moved a lot as an adult (from country to country) and so have not been able to rely on any one medical professional to keep an eye on my health.

If you mean when were labs done, mine were done first at three months out, which seems to be typical.  Ideally they would do a full set of labs pre op but it seems many docs don't.
