Hi everyone! I had rny on monday and my scale says 10lbs down! (actually 19 since the hospital, I was up when I came home). Is this normal? I am hoping it is, it is exciting but I am skeptical! lol I know I started my peroid on surgery day so I dont know if that had anything to do with my surgical weight being up a little too. Did anyone else have this much weight loss the first week? Thanks!

I think most everybody has weight gain right after surgery because of the gasses they pump your tummy full of. I think I gain almost 12 pounds right after surgery. Walking is the best thing you can do.

Good Luck

My op isn't until monday so I can't answer your question but wanted to say well done and I hope you're feeling/recovering well!

You will go through weeks like that.  One week 5lbs or so, then 1lb, then no loss, then back to 5lbs or so. Congrats on your loss so far and welcome to loser's bench!

I'm still pre-op but the concensus on here seems to be that between the IV fluids and gas it's super common to gain weight after surgery and that it comes off pretty quickly. Walk, sip, rest, repeat...that's what I've learned.

Mine was 2/14, I lost 12 on the preop diet and 8 since and I also have my period. Gained 3-4lbs at hospital which I quickly lost.

I had lapband revision to RNY surgery on 2/13/12. I have lost 3 pounds since the surgery. (6 days)  I still have a lot of swelling in by abdomen.  Congratulations, I think your 10 pounds is a tremendous accomplishment.

Hi! I had surgery on the same date. I checked today and was down 12lbs. I too couldn't believe it! Good luck and congrats!

I was 22 pounds down at 10 days... I am now 13 days out, but I don't have a scale at home, so idk what I am at now....
