Carbs?

Ketosis and losing pounds are sort of linked. By "tricking" the body into thinking it is starving (by robbing it of its most readily available source of energy...carbs) the body will start to burn fat which results in loss of weight.

No. We don't.
Some people choose to, for a variety of reasons. I ate a lot more carbs than that - most of my protein comes from beans and dairy - and I lost 150 pounds.

Thanks Kelly someone messaged me saying if I wanted to lose weight I had to have less then 20grams of carbs per day. I know I wouldn't be able to maintain that long term.

I have tried to severly limit my carbs, but it is impossible for me to get under 50g per day. Like Kelly, a lot of my protein comes from beans and dairy and then I have my complex carbs like whole grain bread/crackers in limited quantities as well to help me get some fiber in. Lately I've been eating between 50g and 100g and it doesn't seem to be affecting my weight loss.
3 months out here and i've lost 65 pounds. i track everything but don't limit carbs - however i do not eat processed carbs. no bread or rice or anything like that yet. i have fruits and veggies, etc. and that is where i get my carbs. i don't want to have a lifestyle where i cannot eat fruits and veggies, they are so healthy for us.
i personally don't think the number of carbs is an issue - it's the kind of carbs.
