I just had the worst cramps to date! Started out with an upper back spasm, then had lower abdomen cramps to the point of not being able to move. Then whole abdomen cramps along with noises that you could hear across the room! I was in the fetal position for a few min not being able to do much more than bite my pillow it hurt so much. Then I spent 15-20 min trying to go to the bathroom. Cramp continued during this whole time. I went from constipation to diarrhea in that time too.

And the Dr says he can't find anything wrong! There is definitely something going on here!

Have you read the book "The real skinny on WLS"?

They touch on cramping... Has this happened before or only the once?  The one girl in the book had something like this happen a couple of times there was no reason why....she went to the er got all checked out saw her bariatric dr... everything was fine...

do you have your gallbladder?  Have you had your blood work done recently?

Hopefully it was a one time thing and all is good now!

Pancreas?

Does it feel like muscle pain or like intestinal pain??  Does it come after EVERYTHING you eat or something specific??

Do you get it when you are not eating???

If it happens only when you eat I would spend a few days going back to basics like full liquids and see if you get the pain...if you don't then move on slowly to mushy... eat one thing at a time for a few days each... if you find something triggers it... don't eat that for the rest of the day but try it again the next day to see if it triggers again.

It almost sounds like gallbladder (I know you had it out)  or Pancreas...??

ive mentioned pancreas to the dr, i cant really tell what type but its so sharp and intense. its completely random, this episode hit about 2 hrs after i ate. i had soup.

mentioned bile duct blockage too but my guess is that they think im a hypochondriac and just want attention. i just do alot of research on medical stuff as a hobby. i find it intriguing. i wish i could go to school for something but i just cant afford it.

i emailed the bariatric dept at the hospital my gastro dr is to see if they can help. i hope i get help back.

Ok one more question...how random?  you said it was happening daily....

I have a little theory based on no real proof or anything... I wonder if some of these "cramps" that are random and hurt like hell but have no explanation, are our bones, joints, ligaments, re-aligning.... I'm thinking that for some people everything kind of streached out to accomadate our growing frames and those same bones, joints and ligaments need to constrict back in once the weight comes off.....   I could be WAY off but its an interesting theory...

For you I wouldn't be worried about what they think of you....if something is wrong, then something is wrong... get them to test you for whatever you think it could be... I would go to the bariatric surgeon and tell him symptoms...if it happens daily keep a record... what time you woke up the times you ate/drank anything what you ate what quantities and what time and intensity between 1-10 the pain is, if you got sick (consipation, diareha, vomiting).... It will help you to see if there is a rhyme to this or if it is truly random.

Hope you are able to figure this out soon!!  My thoughts are with you. (sorry didn't re-read or spell check)

It happens at all times I'm up. I thought it was happening after I had my bfast in the morning but now its all over the map. Like it was from my coffee but not anymore.
I've got a lovely note on my file saying that I'm drug seeking because I went in for back spasms and didn't know what to do.

It sounds something like the pain I had with bleeding fibroids and an ectopic pregnancy. Excruciating. Mine felt like it came from the lower intestine and I tried an enema, but any movement of the lower intestine made the pain unbearable. Of course it turned out to be pelvic in origin. Good luck, and be persistent in getting an answer.
