double dose of vitamins?
I have a question about the vitamins we take. The instructions provided by my surgeon say to take a multi-vitamin, twice a day. However, does this mean if I take a once a day vitamin I should be taking it twice? Or is this for the vitamins that you're supposed to take twice a day? Since I've had surgery, I have been doubling up on the recommended dose (by taking twice a day) and just don't know if this is what I should be doing.

That's what I do. I take a 100% multivitamin 2x a day (with 500 calcium 2x a day too). When I went to my 1 year check up with my doctor, he said all my levels were correct. Sometimes I forgot to take my vitamins, so I guess it all leveled out. And since we don't absorb all the nutrition, you should be taking the correct amount.
The ASMBS says you need a multi with 100% of the RDA of most things in it (like Centrum) and to take that twice a day. So yes, you should be taking double the normal dose.

I'm not familiar with that vitamin. Does it have 200% of the RDA of most things in it? If so, you only need one a day. It would have to be a pretty big vitamin to have 200% of stuff in it, though.

Sounds like it.
