Sterilizing the house before surgery?-Secret confession

Guys,

My 12/31 surgery date is so close I can smell it!

I am so happy and excited.

Anyway, my FMIL is feeling all sad that I cant go visit her for Xmas because I need to save my vacation and sick leave for recovery if needed.

On a scale of 1-10..I only feel 0.5 bad!  I want to CLEAN/SANITIZE/BLEACH my house before surgery.  It is like I am nesting or somthing. No germs/dust/fur permitted.

Then i want to spend the 2 week recovery period, sitting in it, sewing, watching tv, and pretending that it looks THIS CLEAN the whole time.

Did any of you do this too (i.e. the antibacterial floor etc etc).

Ummmmmm, no ...

Good for you though, if a clean house will make you feel better while you are recovering - have at it!

Can TOTALLY relate..it did feel like nesting. I was making daily calendars to be able to mark off all the things I had to do ahead of time.  Was really looking forward to home-time so I could nap, read, sew, and heal.  Good luck on your upcoming surgery!  Nice start to a new year! :)

No, no nesting for me... Just normal cleaning plus making sure the bed linens and towels were all freshly laundered, etc..

I was having open RNY, so I did do some things that I knew would be difficult afterward (filling the dog food bin from the large bag, wiping down the baseboards in the three rooms that are used constantly, and adding the 40 pound bag of rock salt to the water softener).

I totally! nested, for about a month beforehand. I deep cleaned, I cleaned out closets, the pantry, the refrigerator, and so on!

I did not want to be tempted to clean while recovering as I do not sit still very well.

I didn't. Buuuuuttttttt! I'm a spoiled girl and my mama came to take care of me and my two girls (3 years and 20 months) for 2.5 weeks. She did everything! My husband also waited on me hand and foot when he was home. It was like a vacation ;)...well except for the few days it took me to get accustomed to "what have I done to myself!"

I had a family to cook for, so i had made some make a head meals like meatloaf put in freezer, spaghetti sauce put in freezer, taco meat in freezer, in quart size baggies they coud pull them out and re heat, the meatloaf had to be cooked, but take out baggie, let thaw, moo**** in baggie and then plop in pan no dirty hands, i do this all the time, make a huge amount of any of those and then make a serving for the tongith meal, then freeze the rest, then makes quick fast meals.

clean all you want if that makes you feel better, but also think of some meals if you have a family as you are not going to want to cook right away.

have a blessed day

Unfortunately, i am alone out here on the East coast. My family lives in the midwest. Are too old to travel or the roads are too bad or have jobs.  SO I am entirely dependent on my FMIL and fiancee for emotional support. I dont think they expect me to cook for them. THe fiance can eat at his own place. FMIL...well I have lots of Omaha steaks, fish, chicken and pork for her!

I deep cleaned the whole house and cleaned out all my drawers.  I too wanted to enjoy a clean house. Also, I had all this extra energy from the liquid diet.  Good luck with your surgery! I had my RNY  11/25/13 and I feel amazing.  Since my house was clean, I spent a lot of time out walking.

Walking..you can do that right away?  I think I will do that. I also LOVE fishing so maybe me, myself, the deer and fish can all spend some time together on teh week days.
