Good morning menu friends!  Cold & windy here and we are supposed to get snow for the next 4 days (yes I am excited, ya'll know I love snow!!!)  I have a Dentist appt this morning at 9am. I LOATHE the Dentist. I will admit I have not been in over a year due to my fear of the Dentist. That't not smart I know so fingers crossed I don't have any cavities or anything major going on!

QOTD: Tell us something completely random about you.  Do you have one blue eye and one brown eye?  Do you have a special talent and you can juggle bowling balls? Can you read, write & speak multiple languages? Have you visited all the 7 wonders of the world? Give us an interesting fact about you!  So I am deaf in my right ear. When I was 9 years old I was in class sitting next to a boy I hated, he was such a bully (Anthony B) and I screamed out in pain in the middle of class and was clutching my ear and just screaming and screaming because it turns out my ear drum burst!  I was rushed to the hospital since I would not stop screaming and the hospital was literally a block away. They called my Mom and she rushed to the hospital and by the time she got there the pain was gone and they were perplexed as to what had happened.  So since birth I had been in & out of the hospital with tubes in my ears due to ear infections and water on my ear drums. So I was no stranger to ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) Doctors and I constantly had some sort of ear infection my whole childhood, it was horrible. So after the ENT did an examination it was discovered my ear drum burst, they "claimed" it was a growth spurt, to this day I can only guess they are right.  I was told I had to wait until I stopped growing until I could be repaired.  So they said to wait until I was between 16-18yrs old.  So I waited and in the mean time I learned the basics of sign language and I started to read lips. Gotta do what ya gotta do right.  So at 18 I went to a new ENT, he looked down my ear canal, I was poked, prodded and literally turned this way and that for the Doctor and about 6 Interns to get a look at the freaky girl with the weird roller coaster type ear canal (they are not supposed to be that way) and it was declared that due to my weird ear canal they can't do surgery, they would do more damage than good and I should get a hearing aid.  Ya that was not happening at 18, me getting a hearing aid, they were huge & ugly back then!!! So long story short, I never got the hearing aid, I am still deaf in my right ear and I can read lips so watch out!! LOL

Morning DD2. You had mentioned a few posts back about being deaf in one ear, but that was the first time I knew about it. I never would have guessed. Did you know that those who are deaf in one ear are married, on average, 87% longer than those who aren't?

QOTD: Random thing about me -- I can touch my nose with my tongue. It's a bit of an odd party trick, that usually results in a long "Ewwwwww" in response.

So I can tie a cherry stem in my mouth with my tongue... that used to get me a lot of free beers when out at a bar

And that totally wasn't the answer I'm going to use in my post!

Haha! Ua that becaue they can literally turn a deaf ear when necessary? Sorry Daisy- I'm really not trying to make fun. I think it's awsome that you can read lips and the way you have really made the best of it.

Get thee to the dentist daisy! (I shouldn't talk, I haven't been in over a year as well.) My clinic did advise me to let my dentist know about my wls because apparently we are at greater risk of cavities. But the reason why escapes me at the moment...

Qotd Ugh random facts about me are the worst! This is when I am reminded of my lack of mad party skills hahaha!! I have a diploma in heritage and restoration carpentry. Graduated with honours.

Menu

The vegan dinner I planned last night was a hit. I still managed to hit my protein target, and though my carbs were 34, I've kept them around 13 the rest of the week, so I'm happy with that.

B: premiere protein shake

L: pork tenderloin and pickled beets

D: pork tenderloin and roasted cauliflower

have a great day everyone!

I read a study that showed a slightly higher rate of tooth decay in bariatric patients,  The researchers theorized that it was because of a diet made up primarily of slider foods after surgery.  So, one more reason to eat on plan now and in the future.  Dense protein first.  Veggies next.  Complex carbs last.  Refined carbs rarely to never.

I don't think they really know what causes it - some say our saliva might be more acidic.  I did tell my dentist about my WLS and he has me using a high-fluoride prescription toothpaste before I go to bed at night, and he also does a fluoride varnish on my teeth every six months.  He said both of those treatments should go a long way in helping to prevent any damage.

IMHO--The increased vomiting that happens can be the cause of dental problems. My 1st WLS was the Lap-band. I had a lot of vomiting when it slipped. My Dentist warned me to thoroughly rinse after an episode because the acid could soften and erode the enamel. Some by-passers also vomit when the pouch gets grumpy.

Good Morning Daisy and Menu Crew!

It's a whopping 7 degrees here today!  Brrrr!

QOTD:  My left eye is smaller and squintier than my right eye.  Also, without my glasses I am legally blind.  Fortunately I can see fine with my glasses.  Another thing most people don't know about me (that I'm kind of proud of) is that I once went hang gliding!  I was terrified, but once I tried it, I absolutely LOVED it!

B:  crepe w/ 3 strawberries, cream cheese, cool whip

L:  lettuce, spinach, h.b. eggs, bacon, cheese, low cal dressing

D:  rib-eye steak

S:  Light n fit Greek yogurt

S:  Roast beef roll-ups w/ cream cheese

Exercise:  Walking the dogs around the neighborhood (if it isn't TOO cold & windy out).  Otherwise riding the stationary bike.

Have an AWESOME day everyone!
