Unhappy pouch day

It has not been a very good day for me.

Went to my mother in law's for lunch and ate a mini veal meatball. It did not go well. I minced it like I always do with some sauce. I experienced some horrific pouch pain and felt as though it was stuck.... I tied to take a sip to unlodge it and then brought on a wave of nausea.

The whole incident upset my sons as I was in a bit of distress.

I ran to to bathroom and I was able to .

Why why why is getting meat/chicken & fish such a struggle?

My pouch remains unhappy after the episode of

Struggling to sip water now....

Been there... I still have a tough time with meat in general. At 12 weeks I can only eat about an ounce (sometimes not even that) at a time while others at my stage can eat 3 or 4 ounces. When that happens and I get sick, it takes hours to feel better and days for my pouch to recover. Every drop of liquid makes it worse so I just wait it out. I then stick to safe foods for a few days. It does get better. I'm so sensitive now that I can tell at first taste if it will agree with me or not. Actually this happened just last night and so always have a plan b.

I hope you feel better soon!!

:( I'm sorry. I still have tht happen from time to time five months out...often on something I have tolerated just fine before, but for some reason did not that particular day...maybe because I ate too fast or didn't chew well enough? But it certainly happens far, far less often than it used to. And my kids are used to it, lol.

I am still touch and go with something like a meatball.  No way I could have eaten it at 5-6 weeks out

I think you're progressing your foods too fast.  Dense foods are not your friend for a while ...

What is it with meatballs???

I'm almost 9 months out, and meatballs are so iffy with me, even if I make them and know what's in them!

Hello Pammianne!

The meatballs are made of veal, parmasen cheese and an egg to bind them.  They are very tender and I mash them into purée with some sauce.

I have been playing by the rules... Progressing beautifully through soft.  Having said that, all my protein has been plant based except for the poached eggs, yogurt & meatballs.

My food is still very limited Heinz baby Oatmeal, poached egg, frittatas, lentil soups, minestrone soups, whipped cream cheese, Tuma cheese, ricotta bake, tuna mixed with guacamole, bananas, Heinz baby prunes...

I enjoy the Gerber baby Oatmeal but I have chosen to stay away from starches (rice, pastas, potatoes, breads) or anything white until I am in the 100s.

I am a bit vegetarian but not by choice. I will be 6 weeks on Wednesday and I have a (3) hour class with a dietician at our Weight Management Clinic.

This is the first episode of  since an episode of wretching after the liquid Tylenol while in hospital.

I am very careful so I have not experienced dumping.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

OMG, I can totally relate.  Meats are really a touchy subject for my pouch.  Its easy to think we should be where others are or at least in a similar spot, but things are rarely the same.

I'm still struggling to get any solid "dense" protein in after two months.  Its painful and it doesn't feel right.  I just figured its just not my time for it yet.

No matter what everyone else is doing or has done or what the sheet says, my body is ultimately going to tell me when certain foods will work.

Hello NazaJen,

Thanks for replying... I just noticed we are at the exact same starting weight.  What are the chances of that? Lol

Can't wait to get into the 100s.

Yes we are all different... Time and patience...

So sorry!  I hate to hear that.  :(

A few thoughts for what they are worth:

Do the Veal meatballs contain breadcrumbs?
Does the sauce contain sugar? Remember, even sugar free, isn't! "Sugar Free" means "Sucrose Free".  Doesn't make any sense.  Anything that ends in "ose" is sugar.
Did you eat too fast?
Did you chew well enough?
Did the water come too soon?  Water is during or 30 minutes after meals but if you are in distress....longer.

I have never felt bad after eating unless I fail.  I'm not calling you a failure but the rules are there to keep us feeling good!

Please explain to your son's that you are not perfect and RNY is a new way of living and needs to be learned.  You are doing this to be a healthier person for you and them!

Feel better!!

Hello

The meatballs are made of veal, parmasen cheese, salt & pepper, and an egg to bind them.  They are very tender and I mash them into purée with some sauce.  Sauce is organic tomatoes from my garden. No sugar...

Did I eat to fast ?  No... I drank the water to clear what ever was making my pouch unhappy. Was it smart? No! It brought on nausea that progressed to .

I always wait 30 minutes before I drink.  I guess I panicked and the pouch pain was horrific. Wanted to flu**** out. Stupid!

I enjoy the Gerber baby Oatmeal but I have chosen to stay away from starches (rice, pastas, potatoes, breads) or anything white until I am in the 100s.

It has not been a great day.  Struggling to get fluids in since that episode.

Tomorrow, I will attempt to start from scratch...

Thanks for your response !

Tomorrow will be a better day!
