To support all members of the ObesityHelp Community, we want to remind everyone about our Terms of Services.  Recent postings were counter-productive to our mission to provide a supportive environment for all. There have been unfortunate incidents of personal attacks.

Please make sure that your posts comply with all provisions of our Terms of Services and specifically with the portion/s that states "Posting or responding to a message in a way clearly intended to incite anger, useless arguments or rants, or for launching personal attacks and insults, being hateful, giving useless criticism, name calling and using profanity is cause for possible removal of membership."  Personal attacks include, but are not limited to, name-calling, being hateful, threatening, harassing, insulting, malicious or attacking a member personally rather than challenging a member's views or position in an appropriate and respectful way.  Please keep comments on the subject, not on the person(s).

It is the purpose of ObesityHelp that you have the opportunity to obtain support and education along with the exchange of information in our community.   At ObesityHelp, you have a place where your voice can be heard but it will be shared among many voices and opinions of other members.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to post within our Terms of Service.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and being a member of our community.

Does starting a post to incite anger, then going back into the post, editing it so that you look innocent after the "flare up", ever get moderated?  Or how about people who begin the fight and then they delete everything they said that started the argument, making the person who is reacting look like the perpetrator.  Are there TOS for that behavior?   I've watched it happen over and over again in the last month.  It seems like the moderators are not aware of this and that the people doing the inciting are also doing the reporting after everything has been scrubbed.

The moderators can see posts that were deleted. So they know who said what. And they are smart enough that they should be able to figure out who did the instigating, and who are just acting like children. And, after all, these are people with a well-established track record, so there should be no surprise.

My only conclusion is, they just don't care.

All removals decisions are done based on the Terms of Service, not based on any particular person. If a post violates the TOS, it is removed.

So, it's ok to post something inflammatory, leave it for a few hours, then go back and  edit or delete thr text?

Exactly!  Why is that being allowed?  Then the person who was originally attacked reacts and the people that started the whole mess get off scott free.

I was wondering why the moderators posted this. I couldn't see anything inflammatory. Guess I was just too late to the show...

Two of us called someone out for bullying one of our long term members about her sobriety.  Our posts were removed and the bully post remained.  The perpetrator was deactivated for a while and suddenly reappeared.  The same perpetrator followed the object of the bullying to another post to again prove her point and that was left up too.

The member posted about her 11 months sobriety to HELP members here and I don't understand why that is not appreciated by "management"

This behaviour is condoned by Member Services?  It not being personal and all.  There was nothing personal posted to the bully by me, just a comment on her action.  I received no notice that I had been moderated or why.  Is this a new practice?

After a few years on here, I am WELL aware of TOS and don't consider my post, to a bully,  outside of those rules, especially as you haven't done anything about her deplorable actions, giving her carte blanche to continue stalking her "victim"

Edited:  I beg your pardon. I see the perpetrator reactivated,  altered her post to not look as much of a bully and then blocked me.  The posts are there now.

Shame that her attempt to alter history makes her look less of an ass than she was, but at least our posts stand as responses to her original attempts at bullying.  Not cool.
