What's on your Tuesday menu RNYers?

Good morning from Northern Ontario - apparently there was snow for some while driving here yesterday. I did get to have a quick visit with my bestie yesterday. She works across the street from where we had lunch so she came and joined us for 20 minutes. It was great to s was her.

QOTD: Whats the longest road trip you've taken and do you enjoy road trips? We do at least 2 trips a year - once at least to PA and then we try to get to New Brunswick as well as DHs sisters live there. This year we went to SC instead of NB as my ssister by choice lives there. :) The longest trip we've taken was when our oldest was a baby and we went to Newfoundland. It's something like 30 hours of driving plus a 4 hour ferry crossing. I love road trips but my husband is the worst backseat driver in the history of ever! So that can make it stressful.

Acciuntability- I'm actually proud of how I did yesterday. I stayed well within my goals and was low on carbs and high on protein. I did have a protein bar for breakfast and can see how they could be a slippery slope.

Menu:

Once again it's up in the air. I heard them say that breakfast at our event today will be muffins and pastries so I'm going to go down and grab something here - the hotel has hot breakfast so I'm sure there will be some meat and eggs - or something that resembles eggs. Lunch and dinner are buffets and it will be Protein first.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning menu folks!

Teena, I'm glad that your travels went well and that eating was good.

I had a DEXA scan yesterday and everything looks good. I forgot to take a picture of the results, but I will share. The best news is that my bone density is excellent. I have a family history of severe osteoporosis and I was concerned. Also my body fat is excellent. More details to come.

Today I have appointments with my pulmonologist and with my primary care doc. I am seeing the latter because I have an unusual lump in my right breast. With all of the weight loss, I can't tell whether it is normal breast tissue or whether it is a lump. I've been concerned and want to have it checked out before my yearly physical.

QOTD: I drove across the US several years ago in just 4 1/2 days. It was a quick trip, but I did stop to see a few things. We also make a 6-7 hour trip to upstate NY to see my MIL several times a year. That is usually enough driving for me, especially with holiday traffic.

Menu:

Breakfast: scrambled eggs, chicken

Snack: Lemonade protein shake

Lunch: fish, broccoli

Snack: 2 oz turkey breast

Dinner: Turkey breast, TJ's Hodge Podge veggies

Exercise: lots of walking and maybe some swimming

Good news on the Dexa results. I'm glad you are seeing your PCP about the lump - you can't be too careful.

Those DEXA scans really help, don't they?

I'm glad you are getting the lump checked out. You reminded me that I'm due for my mammogram, too! Hope it's nothing but lumpy leftover fat tissue!

My breasts have changed so much in the last 8 months that I have not idea what is normal any more. This is just rather worrisome though.

Good morning all! I love Wednesdays when I can leisurely post from the train instead of under the table during meetings. I typically leave the house before 6am, so I can't post before I leave :( This new job is not giving me a lot of breathing room to be involved anymore, but I have posted my menu daily for 28 months and I am not giving that up. I know it is a huge part of my success.

Accountability: Good! I switched out dinner for chili which I swore was 150 calories a serving but whoops--it was 290 a serving. It was really delicious, so I planned for it today! Also, I LOVE that I can run again! I decided that this weekend I am going to scour the interwebs for a used treadmill on Craigslist or FB. I am no longer enjoying the elliptical machine and driving 20 minutes each way to go run on the treadmill seems like a huge waste of my precious time.

QOTD: I think it was a drive from Boston to Chicago with my family when I was a teenager. My mom and I were in the typical teen girl / mom angsty period and there were are few times I would have been content to get out and walk. But Chicago was fun--we had some great adventures while we were there and it was worth it.
