I laid low for a couple of days but by one week out felt great.

I think managing the fluids and food is harder as it?s all new.

edited to add: while I felt overall great, I did get tired in the afternoon for several weeks

I really didn't have any pain at all although my abs were pretty sore for a few days. Transitions (lying down to sitting up - or sitting up to standing) could be challenging because of that - I felt like I'd done about 1000 crunches. But if I was just lying there - or sitting there - I didn't have any pain. I had some nausea the day of surgery and the day after, but Zofran in my fluid line took care of that. Otherwise, I was fine. I almost thought they forgot to do the surgery!

I seen your signature asked if anyone was approved by medicare? Not sure if it is still relevant for you or not but I got my RNY approved through Medicare/medicaid. Medicare has no pre-reqs required, they don't pre-approve anything. However if you also have medicaid, you may have to do some pre-reqs before you qualify. I had to do 4 months of doctor watched weight loss (could not gain weight after 1st months weight was written down, and then I had to have 2 dietitian visits. All in all, I started my Journey Jan 2017, and had surg. August 7th 2017. I am now 5 months Post op and doing great.

I find many foods I can't eat anymore at all, like.. not even a little - bread, pasta.. however I don't mind that because those are the things we want to stay away from anyway. Right after surgery I had a lot of pain, however, by day 3 I was just sore. I chalk that up to walking non stop after surgery. Round and round the nurses station I went. It seems bad the first couple weeks after you have surgery and your asking yourself.. what did you do to yourself. But it gets better every day!
