It is more likely that menopause is behind your sleep issues, as opposed to surgery.

Sounds like you have experienced 2 major challenges with sleep

.RE:sleep issues ..It's a symptom of the hormonal changes and enzyme changes in the intestine. Eating and not remembering it IS A SIDE EFFECT of the medication for sleep.

In addition to getting plenty water, maintaining food away from fluids by at least 30 min each way...(keeps from stretching the tool) You should consider adding probiotics...to assist your body with the production of melatonin and serotonin. Much of them are made in the gut.

I started mine at 3x dose recommended for 3 days because i realized i was so deficient. I am off of them now but used them about 14 days total after the three days I dropped back to one dose with main meal, I took entire days dose at one time for remaineder of days. I was having a chronic gastritis.. have only had one "bout" with that bad company since...

I also use a small amount of MSG free meat tenderizer. on eggs and meats...mccormicks is one brand and dollar general has their house brand is msg free.( entire family is sensitive) Be careful with using tenderizers, they can slow weight loss. My delimma was I was absorbing nothing and chronic gastritis..this allowed my body time to re balance.

My Surgeon prescribed diet was/is 90 grams of protein and 20-50 total carbs or less...the 31st was my surgiversary 24 years. I just got back to my goal in last couple of weeks, after a 45 lb weight gain caused mostly by hormonal changes related to stress... counting protein and carbs works... I have never counted calories just those two things. keeps it simple. for me.

also get as much water as you can... if it is not within 30 min of a meal you should be sipping water... some people add lemon slice or orange slice. mine is just filtered water. never bottled or tap,( unless from our private well). if you have not done a liver cleanse try adding milk thistle once daily for 2 weeks.. even liver specialists recommend that.it gives the liver a boost by removing the toxins fromthe system and giving the old fat cells you are trying to excrete a place to go.

Thank you!!! I appreciate your input...what probiotic do you use?? I get my vitamins and supplements from Walmart so I just need stats on what I need to look for if you don't get yours there...I just got back to taking my vitamins again and this time I added vitamin c. I had some very low readings my last time and was feeling really tired. I just can't sleep. I may start doing this and add melatonin in too. Any advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks to everyone *****sponded.

Have you googled "Keto" or "Keto eating plan" or anything similar? There is tons of info out there. We also have a couple of keto people here on OH and I'm hopeful they check in.

One thing to be aware of is that keto is very different from paleo, whole 30 etc. I didn't know that, but when I googled the macros the numbers appear to generally be:

75-90% calories from fat, 10-20% protein and whatever is leftover (shouldn't be more than 5 or 10%) goes to carbs, mainly in the form of above-ground veggies.

As you can see keto is very different from other currently popular plans. It's actually a lifestyle type change in it's truest form. Kind of like going vegan.

Good luck with whatever you choose; health is an intensely personal thing and what works for one doesn't always work for another.

I saw my nut yesterday and asked about Leto and she said no and that she couldn't teach it to me unless I was having seizures. I guess unless you're a bariatric nutritionist they don't find these ways of eating wise. I do what I want and humor her and o my see her to be held accountable. That's the best way for me to stay on track.

Sorry for the late response. But need to say that you don't need a nutrition/diet expert to teach you anything. If you decide that Keto or any other way of eating is most beneficial to your body, I'm 100% sure that you can teach yourself.

FB groups, keto websites, books. Basically googling. All of the information is out there, no need for permission from anyone. Good luck with whatever you come up with. Don't let anyone make your decisions for you.
