A protein bullet that is palatable!

I'm on day six of my week-long clear liquids phase after surgery.  Is it no wonder I'm losing weight when all I'm doing is drinking water, Crystal Lite, and chicken broth???  To get some protein, I've also been drinking those dreaded bullets.  Oh, they are so awful!  But today I found one that I didn't gag when I smelled and I didn't have to hold my nose to drink it.  I drank it in about 10 minutes, vs. the 30 minutes-plus it's been taking me to down the other stuff (I'm still in the sip, sip, sip stage, so I can't just chug the thing with my nose plugged).  Anyway, I thought I would share with you all the drink I had since it was actually palatable (it was not great, or even good, but it was WAY better than the other brands).  It's called Proasis and I got it at RiteAid.  FYI.

The bullets are generally NOT a good idea because, from my understanding, the type of protein they use is not well absorbed. Even the ones that say on the front label that they are "whey protein," check the ingredients and see that they don't use ONLY whey protein. You're likely putting yourself through the misery of the disgustingness for VERY little benefit!

This is my understanding also.  THe poor type of protein is collagen.  There's no real benefit for WLS patients from this protein.  It's cheap so those companies like to use it, but they blend it with a small amount of whey or soy protein so that it doesn't look so bad on the label.

Hi, Please change to Isopure.  Its has been tested that protein bullets do not absorb,
Lab results come back low.  This is str8 from my NUTS, also many do know this on OH.
LQQK it up hear in the search and you will see what I am talking about.

Good Luck hun.  I dont want your body pulling protein from somewhere else when
your not getting your protein in.

Everyone is correct. Those bullets are not the right type of protein. Please check with your NUT. They will probably tell you the same thing. And I love Isopure. I can't tolerate it full strength, but I mix 1/2 a bottle with water 2 times a day. I hope you heed the advice here. Good Luck.

Thanks for the info, everyone.  I suppose I should have read up more on them before my surgery.  Luckily, today is the last day of my clear liquids (or liquid fast, as I like to call it ), so I don't plan on having any more bullets for a L-O-N-G time (if ever!).

PS: For the curious of you, the protein in this bullet is Actinase.

And really, what on earth is the point of making a protein bullet that doesn't allow anyone to actually absorb the protein?  I don't get it.

Back to my protein shakes I go!  Much tastier, and better for you, too.

Those bullets are no good. Use the search feature at the top of this page, type in "protein bullet" and see what you get. Here's one thread. There are many others.
