6 month surgiversary

It has been exactly 24 weeks since my surgery.

In summary:
- I am SO glad that I got the VSG!!
- I did not suffer any complications during surgery/recovery
- I still get hungry, though I can easily manage this by having small meals approximately every 3-4 hours
- I am not a stairstep loser.  I lost quite a bit the first few weeks, but then started losing an average of 3 pounds a week.  This 3 pounds a week thing has been going on for several months.
- I started losing hair a few months ago, and continue to lose quite a bit of hair.  Can't wait till it stops!
- I take my vitamin**** my 60 grams of protein, and get in at least 64 ounces of fluid almost every day.  It is a rare day when I don't do this.
- I start every meal and snack with a protein.  I generally have 2 ounces of protein for a meal with 1/8 to 1/4 cup veggies/fruit if I have room, and 1 ounce protein for my snack.  I usually have 3 meals, a morning skim latte, and an afternoon snack.  I sometimes have an evening snack.
- I sometimes have a carby treat (a cup or two of popcorn, an ounce of mini M&M's) after my protein, but that is rare (not even weekly).
- Bread, avocadoes, pasta, pastries make me feel icky, so I avoid them.
- My goal is to run 3 days a week, go to the gym the other 2, and then walk at least 30 minutes the other 2.  Since getting this cold a few ago, I've slacked a bit.  I am working to get on track (even if I don't feel up to the gym, I'm going to make sure I walk at least 30-40 minutes a day until I feel better)
- I was in a tight size 26 pant/shirt.  Most of my shirts are now 1X, and pants are 18.  Some of my things are 16W.  I have a size Large coat that I just bought :)

That's it  :)

Oh, I should add one more thing:
- I am still having a tough time drinking plain water.  It is hard for me to swallow :(  My nutritionist said that some WLS patients have a hard time with water due to its pH level.  I am drinking A LOT of decaff coffee now, since it goes down so easy :)  I also drink Crystal Light and the special K protein water, however I don't drink them too often due to the artificial sweetners in them...

What did you think of your surgeon/experience at Park Nicollet? Right now I am signed up for an information session at Unity and am thinking of going with Dr. Baker. ???

I liked my surgeon, but in all honesty, I've only seen him twice: at my preop consult, and the day of surgery.  What I REALLY liked about him, was that he took lots of time to discuss the RNY versus VSG with me.  He helped me to determine that I should go with the VSG.

I had my surgery at Methodist in SLP.  My surgery went well, with no complications.  Given the amount I can eat at 6 months (approx 2 ounces of dense protein, sometimes can have up to 1/4 cup of veggies fruit), I think my sleeve is a good size?

What didn't go well?  Only two things- One of my weekend nurses was not that great.  She let my IV and pain meds run out prior to me getting the leak test.  During the leak test, my blood starting backing up into the IV, I was VERY thirsty, and in a great deal of pain.  Every time she was on duty, it took her FOREVER to get me my pain meds.  I was very uncomfortable while she was on duty.  Discharge also wasn't that great.  I was discharged on a Sunday, and they didn't wheelchair me out.  I had to walk all the way to the door from my room, and I felt crappy, dizzy, tired :(
