5 months out with pics...I think

5 Months out... whew!

Feels like only yesterday that I was freaking out over the acid reflux foamies and running to my computer to post for answers and/or assurances from the vets. LOL

Now everything has settled down to a rutine. The "easy" stage is over so it's taking a little work to get the job done. But it's SOOOOOO much easier.

Before VSG if I ate wrong for a day, it would take me all month of diligent WW and 5 days on the treadmill just to get back to where I started.  Now it's just so easy to nix the carbs and empty stuff for a couple days.

If I could offer any advise/wisdom to the newly sleeved, it would be the following:

1. In the beginning, you MUST heal...take advantage. Do not pu**** Just drink your water and if you want/need to eat...make it protien. If you get scared or worried..Post hear and listen to the advice.

2. When it starts to get easier, go with lean meats for protein first, add stalk veggies if you must.
It keeps you full longer and if you stay busy until the next meal you'll be surprized at how NOT hungry you really are...at least that's how it worked for me. LOL

3. No EMPTY CALORIES - push yourself to say no. It will pay off in the end.
I did not so much do this and can most certainly tell you that right now...I regret it. So much work to break the habit.

4. Excersize, even if its just 20 minutes a day on the treadmill or around the block. If you force yourself to do this A LITTLE at a time...you will eventually do more and crave more.
Especially as you get lighter...then it's more fun.

5.Just because you can eat it COMFORTABLY does not make it OK!
Mashed potatoes come to mind LOL

6. When in doubt, ask the vets on this board. They have been a font of information for me.

Well, that's all I can think to share right now.
Enjoy the pics, but keep in mind that the bathroom mirror shots are not my best work! But I figure if the kids can do it, so can Nana!

Cheers!
Donna

Great pictures! You are doing wonderful.

As someone starting out in all this, all the information can be kind of daunting.  I just wanted to thank you for your list of advice/wisdom.  I think I'll print it out and put it with my doctor paperwork.

Thanks!
