VETs Vitamin help please!!!

I am having a Horrible time with my vitamins! I ordered chewables from celebrate and they are awful! Before surgery they did not bother me and now I literally gag when I chew one and have to choke it down.... Then I'm nauseated for hours afterwards! I have to chew a total of 7 a day and those things are freaking huge! I also have one that's a sublingual. So does anyone know of any gummies that I could try? Here's a list of what my nut says I need to be taking:

-multivitamin 2 per day with at least 18 mg of iron and 400mcg of frolic acid

-B complex vitamin B-50 or super B dosage that includes 50 mg of thiamin

- vitamin B12 sublingual ( this ones not so bad since it dissolves so quickly )

- calcium citrate with vitamin D 1000-1500 mg a day

- vitamin D 2000 IU total per day

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)
I take Centrum Chewables for my multi - 2 per day

1 thiamine (B1)
1 sublingual B12
2000 D3

I stopped taking calcium in march bc that crap made me sick and I had to stop eating the gummies cause they are triggers for me. My calcium has ironically gone up since I stopped taking a supplement.

I only take vites twice a day - before and after work.

Just a quick question re: calcium, has your PTH went up along with the serum calcium? You prob know this, but serum calcium isn't a good indication without the PTH being checked as well, since your body will pull it from bones to keep the levels good..

I take about 22 vitamins and supplements in the morning and about 7 in the evening. Costco sells a gummie multi that I like and is easy to take. I always take them in the morning with my protein shake right after I exercise. If I don't I will get really sick. I take them when I am getting ready for work in the morning and it takes about a half hour to get them all down.  In the evening I take them when I still have a little something in my stomach and they don't bother me. Most of what I take is for my hair and they have really helped.

Wow! & I thought I had to take a lot of vits. What do u take for your hair?

Let's see... I take 2 Biotin tablets a day, 3 Hair, Skin & Nail supplements (from Costco), 6 Collagen supplements (from Costco), 1  Zinc, 1 Flax Seed, 1 Primrose. I think that is all that I take for my hair. My surgeon put me on most of those when my hair started to fall out. My hair has come back really nicely since then. Most of the rest of the vitamins and supplements are for  stuff like stresss, heart, metabolism and stuff. It is quite an ordeal every morning.

I take a multivitamin with minerals twice a day.  Stats brilliant at 2.5 years postop.  How experienced is your nut??
I'm not sure how long shes been at the suregons office. I think I'll email her

I agree with Paul, it sounds like she is having you take vitamins for an RNY patient.  I would question her and talk to the doctor.  I take calcium because mine was really low, but now it's up so I skip it some days, D3, muliple (1 per day) and I add Biotin for my hair and fish oil.....but not required.  And I get a B-12 shot every month.  When I see the surgeon I will prob only take the Multiple and the B-12 shot and that will be that.  Sounds like your NUT needs to remember that WE have no malabsorption issues.

I think I'll email her and also double check with my suregon. Thanks for the info.

RNYers have to supplement at much higher levels than that- and diff vites (A,D, E, K & iron) this seems like a fairly straight forward protocol for VSG..

To the OP:

I stopped chewables as soon as I was cleared for pills- I take:

1x Centrum or equal adult complete multi
500mg vit C
B vite complex incl thiamine
1200-1500mg cal citrate, with Mg oxide/citrate incl, if I use cal citrate powder, I'll pop 400mg Mg oxide so I don't get constipated..
B12, down to 1/2 tab a day after my levels got to where I wanted them from the low side early out
D3 5000iu a couple times a week, down from 10,000iu/day.. I was in the low 30's going in, want levels up in the 90's.. it worked after about 4mo..

I also throw in others that I've taken for a long time previous for my own needs..

Biotin 5000mcg/day, been on it for years- helped my nails
Evening primrose oil- 1g/day
Omega 3 fish oil 2g/day
Potassium, 400mg- I do not get enough with my diet, levels are good with this..
Probiotics- right now, Primal Defense Ultra
Cod liver oil once in a while

I used to take iron, but my ferritin went up outside range, so now- no supplemental iron and I'm using up my stores in my body.. at that point, I'll add in a multi with iron, right now my multi is non-iron. I get my labs (I bring them the list to pull, as they would only do the bare minimums if left to their own devices..) and I chart them myself so I can see if something is going up, down or holding steady- never trust Drs to just tell you "oh, everything is fine!" They DON'T catch things till they tank, then it's a pain to bring them up.. the D is a good example.. it was in the very lowest range, but according to my Dr, all was well.. nope. Same with the B12, I was in the low range, where nerve damage could possibly occur, but since it was technically "in range" nothing was said.

As always follow your doctors orders... Now that is out of the way... =). I am taking one, yep....just one, over the counter multi vitamin a day. I take it at night so if it makes me feel yucky I am asleep. I had my blood work done last week and my levels are beautiful! Not suggesting this for you but it is working for me. It seems you are taking a lot. Hopefully you can talk to your doctor and see if all you are taking is really necessary.

I don't take any supplements....Well...I try, but, then I always forget. My blood stats have always been good. Except for when I was in the hospital. I had low potassium.

 Wow that's awesome!

I take 2 Vitafusion multi gummies (the ones with fiber - they also contain enough iron for me right now as my iron levels are fine), a D3 gummy if I need it (I'm in the sun all the time lately so doc had my remove it from my routine for now - again, it's Vitafusion), 1000mcg B12 sublingual, 4 Bariatric Advantage chewables per day (I usually order chocolate and caramel - yum!)

Where do u get the vista fusion?

My doctor has me taking Bariatric Fusion chewables - 3 of them a day.  They don't taste *great*, but they aren't he most awful things ever.  I wash them down with water.  Maybe those would be better?
