RNYers have to supplement at much higher levels than that- and diff vites (A,D, E, K & iron) this seems like a fairly straight forward protocol for VSG..
To the OP:
I stopped chewables as soon as I was cleared for pills- I take:
1x Centrum or equal adult complete multi
500mg vit C
B vite complex incl thiamine
1200-1500mg cal citrate, with Mg oxide/citrate incl, if I use cal citrate powder, I'll pop 400mg Mg oxide so I don't get constipated..
B12, down to 1/2 tab a day after my levels got to where I wanted them from the low side early out
D3 5000iu a couple times a week, down from 10,000iu/day.. I was in the low 30's going in, want levels up in the 90's.. it worked after about 4mo..
I also throw in others that I've taken for a long time previous for my own needs..
Biotin 5000mcg/day, been on it for years- helped my nails
Evening primrose oil- 1g/day
Omega 3 fish oil 2g/day
Potassium, 400mg- I do not get enough with my diet, levels are good with this..
Probiotics- right now, Primal Defense Ultra
Cod liver oil once in a while
I used to take iron, but my ferritin went up outside range, so now- no supplemental iron and I'm using up my stores in my body.. at that point, I'll add in a multi with iron, right now my multi is non-iron. I get my labs (I bring them the list to pull, as they would only do the bare minimums if left to their own devices..) and I chart them myself so I can see if something is going up, down or holding steady- never trust Drs to just tell you "oh, everything is fine!" They DON'T catch things till they tank, then it's a pain to bring them up.. the D is a good example.. it was in the very lowest range, but according to my Dr, all was well.. nope. Same with the B12, I was in the low range, where nerve damage could possibly occur, but since it was technically "in range" nothing was said.
