I have seen on here where and from my Dr. that you need to eat 600-800 calories 80 grams of protein and 40 grams of carbs and 100 fl. oz. a day. So my question is is it bad if you go over your protein?

It is not bad...my doc wants me to aim for 90g but never less than 70g.

This is part of why we do blood tests regularly.  If you have any signsof kidney disease then ultra high level of proteins can further stress the kidneys  Typically thats only an issue for long term consumption of over 100g based on some readings I have made.  Again, this is only a risk if I were showing any signs of kidney disease to begin with.

The USRDA for protein is 37g of protein per 100 lb of body weight (multiply your weight by 0.37)  So in my case, I should get a minimum of 67g today because I weighed 183 this morning.

While we are healing or exercising vigorously, we may need more protein.  My plastics surgeon wants me to have at least 100g a day before and after my surgery to assist in healing.  Not a problem there doc.

what about potassium my legs have been cramping but didnt know why and then i read on here it may be because your potassium comes from some carbs such as banana and potatos and if your not eating those then what?

There are lots of things that can cause leg cramping.  I used to get ridiculous leg cramps as a side effect of my blood sugar being too high.

If your cramping is from potassium levels - you can get potassium from sources that don't include the sugar rush from fruit or starchy veggies.  For example, after you work out rehydrate with a zero calorie sports drink like powerade zero.  Switch from regular salt to no-salt (Potassium chloride).  Eat other vegetables high in potassium but low in carbs like crimini mushrooms, spinach, swiss chard, etc.

I don't think you can count tea as a sports drink.  The point of the sports drinks is they replace vitamins and minerals that are commonly excreted through exercise - like potassium or sodium.  They are not best all the time because of the high sodium.

Indra,
I drink 100 oz. of unsweetened iced tea (sweetened with splenda) every day for the last year and yes, I count that as my fluid intake.  I rarely drink plain water (which I LOVED preop) because my taste buds changed after surgery.
