CPAP Machine and VSG . . .

My Dr., has informed me that he does NOT recommend his patients using their CPAP machine after surgery, because they have a tendency of blowing out one's stitches. . . .
Has anyone ever heard of this?

WOW, never heard that one. In fact my Dr cancels surgery if you don't bring your CPAP to the hospital with you.

My surgeon also said no cpap after surgery for most patients, he does do a case by case exception. Thankfully I don't use CPAP but I am a sleep tech so it is a source of contention with me and my Dr.... LOL, we agree to disagree. Follow your Dr's instructions and guage how you are feeling, if you feel like its hindering your recovery process make sure to call him and explain your concerns. I'm sure he will work with you on it. :) Good luck
Sounds ridiculous and negligent to me. What happens if you choke to death and die? I used mine from the minute I got out of surgery. I do notice I get a little air in my stomach some times, but I burp it up and all is good. Unless your surgeon is going to keep you intubated through your recovery I would definitely use it.

Thanks OH folks. . . I will have to pin him down again, and ENSURE that he gives this to me again . . . .
